wowh .... mind boggling. And applaus to Cuban Angel Fournier Rodriguez. Unluckily Cuba's greatest oarsman died of a heart attack in 2023 on March 16 at age 35 in Dallas, a three-time Olympian. May he R.I.P.

This sport like other cardiovascular intensive sports is critically bad for your heart

@@delargealex thats a bold statement. The Masters rowing world championship counts 3,000 participants for age groups up to 89 years old. I have my doubts, that rowing is unhealthy. contrary, science studies show, that its one of the best spots to train the whole body. Any hint for your critics ?

@@PoM.PeaceofMind The masters rowing championship doesn't cite when each participant picked up rowing but it's possible that some peoples' bodies have higher resistance to cardiomyopathy but intensive cardiovascular exercise is definitely stressful to the heart. There's been numerous cases of seasoned marathon runners who have dropped dead of heart attacks both in their youth and later in older ages. A lot of former Tour De France cyclist suffer from heart enlargement do to their bodies compensating from the intensive exercise load. You have every right to enjoy whatever sport your please but there are consequences to heavy exercise especially that which a professional endurance athlete would put their body through. Now light cardiovascular exercise limits the amount of stress and is certainly a lot healthier for you.

@@delargealex I think overtraining is a big risk, yes. There is also an interesting correlation between stress, pain and pain sensitivity. Pain as such can give lots of hints about unhealthy training/stress levels. There is an interesting podcast with Dr. Stuard McGill and Prof. A. Hubermas about, also something to learn for amateurs to keep healthy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3LPpZJ-gL1nl9U

@@delargealex I am not sure if only "light cardiovascular exercise is a lot healthier" but being a professional endurance athlete for many years has risks. As does training often in the barely sustainable range of exertion and beyond.

top elite sports is never reached with legal methods. We should not be impressed. Look at the scandals of doping in Tour De France ... or any other top sports events. A human body has its natural limits. We should learn to accept this, and not keep pushing the boundaries further and further. No applause for these gladiators who are willing to ruin their health for some few seconds of fame.
