This was a shocker - such a tumble in rankings in two years must have been due to difficult training/personal situations. Problem is, with the jumps not working, it highlights the lack of elegance in transitions, such as the bent back and hunched shoulders.
22nd in LP standings; 20th overall

She starts with a massive combination.. she really showed what she can be but then... she lost the timming :( After the 2000 Grand Prix Final, all the things surrouding her carreer affected her. At 2001 she appeared without confidence, her programs are less captivating... I Think that the russian federation never had to replace Soldatova or even Sokolova by Volchkova... this is my opinion!

xlutskaya I agree. I think not going to the olympics when she owned her berth there destroyed her career. I saw her at the Lalique trophy , her trainning sessions & warm ups were spectacular ...but couldn't perform her 2 programs. It really made me sad as she raised so quickly to the top & was so talented

u109405 You mean Nagano, right? I still dont understand why Russian Fed chose Sokolova over Soldatova after Euros. Cuz Sokolova was really disastrous in GPF and really inconsistent with her lutz and flip..
