Not to mention the nice touch of the replication of the breathing of the Banshee. None of my friends who I rode it with for my first time told me about that, and it took me a minute to figure out what was going on. -Gary

@mrknowhere64574 жыл бұрын
My absolute FAVORITE dark ride is Zombie at my local state fair. I love how it really has nothing to do with zombies, it's a great expectation subversion, and the interior has some fantastic dollar store lighting, it definitely makes you feel like your riding through a trailer, which makes the atmosphere so much better than any Disney dark ride.

How Derren Brown made this list seems crazy to me, let alone number 1
@prakesh29044 жыл бұрын
At first I was enraged that he put Derren Browns Ghost Train a dm number one, but then I realized he probably got lucky and got a good seat. For me I got one good seat and 2 bad seats. One time the headset had unbearable screen-door effect. But lucky for Taylor he got a good ride.
@SplashOne4 жыл бұрын
My #1 is definitely Flight of Passage. Number 2 would probably be Mission Space. Followed by the Flying Theatres (Europa Park, EPCOT, Ferrari Land, Ferrari World) and Star Tours.
@gladiatordragon92194 жыл бұрын
10. Haven't rode this, no comment. 9. (Only been on the Studios version) It's a fun ride for when you just want to take a break. It always has a line that's among the smallest in the park, so it's easy to just hop on, enjoy, and take a quick break from the hot Florida sun. 8. As much as I dislike the Minions due to their oversaturation, I can appreciate this ride. That being said, it's not one of my favorites, nor would I really prioritize it. 7. Haven't been on that, but I can imagine that, as one who doesn't watch the Tonight Show much, I feel as though I'd view it in a more negative light. 6. I've been to the Soarin' at Epcot for both the California and "Around the World" flights. It's a classic attraction, but I feel they could do more for the queue. It looks nice, but it needs just a little more. 5. I have one primary gripe that I hope is fixed soon. They need to create a sort of Mission Matrix, like what Star Tours has. That being said, it's a pretty decent ride, and it works well as a side attraction to Rise of the Resistance (though I haven't been on ROTR). 4. I have actually been on this, and, first of all, it had no line when my family went. This was actually quite a shame, as there was a lot in the queue that I wished I could look at longer (particularly that flying robot thing. The mechanisms for that were really clever). I agree that this is quite a lot better than Soarin. 3. Haven't been on this. I really should, given your assessment though. 2. Best Flying Theater in the world, no contest. That being said, ugh. That line is worth it the first few times, but not for many more unless you're absurdly lucky. 1. I may go on this if I manage to get to Thorpe, but I'm not a fan of horror stuff.

You kids and your fancy simulators. When I was your age all we had was Mission to Mars at Disneyland. It was a circular room a screen on the floor and one on the ceiling. There was a countdown and the screen on the bottom showed the Earth getting smaller while the screen at the top showed Mars getting bigger. The seats vibrated. Boy, you really felt like you were going to Mars.

I just rode Smuggler's Run for the first time a few weeks ago at Hollywood Studios (a week or two before the closing of the parks), and one of the bigger disappointments I have with how they run it is that you're all but guaranteed to be an engineer if you take advantage of single rider. Granted, it might save you a TON of time that way, but still kind of a bummer.....or has anyone ever used Single Rider and gotten a different spot? -Gary

Thorpe Park is my home park and I've ridden it three times over the years. Twice in 2018 and once in 2019. The first two in 2018 were great and I was very impressed but my 2019 ride was cluttered with technical issues, a desynced headset, and a three minute dead spot which was nothing but screaming and a black screen. Ghost Train will be either an incredible experience or a terrible ride depending on pure luck and nothing else. They're bringing back Rise of the Demon for 2020 so I can only hope my next ride is better. I kind of want to do it again, and see how it compares to last time. The ride was way too far ahead of it's time, and it feels like Thorpe would've been a lot better off doing something on a smaller scale to test things out instead of what feels like a prototype on steroids. You're extremely lucky to have gotten such a good ride. You probably haven't realised this could've placed dead last on your list if you caught a bad ride on a bad day!
@KhaosOP4 жыл бұрын
I thought the Ghost Train at Thorpe Park was absolutely shocking, half of it was out of sync and half the staff didn't know what the heck they were doing. nothing scary about having a park staff member tap me on the leg
@catempireftw71344 жыл бұрын
KhaosOP completely agree. I’ve ridden it at least 5 times. The only time it was actually somewhat rideable (my first), but I really didn’t find it scary at all. The only impressive part is the ending which once you’ve seen it a few times quickly loses all charm. Compared to other VR experiences such as the void I think it’s really lame and lacking in special effects. Tbh I don’t think it deserves even being above star tours.

dErren Brown's ghost train is a very good ride after its rise of the demon refurbishment in 2017, however many people dislike it due to not only Thorpe Park's inconsistency with many of the effects but also as the original ride was very poor and felt very cheap so people still remember that failure and also Thorpe Park gets a very bad GP most days who very often ruin the experience

@isaaclyon84784 жыл бұрын
I love flight of passage a ton, but for me there is still a ride that tops it. Mission: Space at epcot is incredible. It is interactive, and it actually has g-force. You can experience 3 gs of force for up to 30 seconds straight. No other simulator that I know of does that.

One more thought, while I'm sure you've already made your part 2 video, I think breaking down screen based conventional dark rides from practical effects based dark rides is a good idea. I get that this could be complicated when you get to rides like the Spider-Man or even to some extent Justice League but I think they are pretty different. (RIP Curse of DarKastle.) Also, it makes sense to separate shooter dark rides from regular dark rides. That being said, I'd be surprised to see a lot of shooter dark rides on your list anyway.
