I wish you had started with their rendition of "Listen" on that show, but this will do.lol By the way, the first boy you said was "intimidated" ? His name is Mackey. He's going through a transition and his voice is deepening. That may have been part of why he was a little intimidated. He was making sure he sounded right.

Hi Ken thank you for your reaction! I hope you would be able to read this :) The boys are best friends and are committed to their group. They started out as competitors in a Philippine TV Show called Tawag ng Tanghalan (TNT; hence their name) or Call of the Stage. They have said multiple times in interviews that they do not plan to go solo anytime soon. And they wish to be a group as long as possible. Their reason? They wouldn't be where they are now if it weren't for each other :) Their talent is awesome but what makes them shine is their friendship. That's why their harmonies are always on point. Mackie, who started the song, knows this song by heart. This is one of his winning pieces in competitions. So his tone and mood at the start was deliberate. It was the arrangement if the song to make you feel vulnerable. Francis is. always oozing with sass and knows how to play with the camera. He is the youngest and the baby of their group. The 2 older ones are always supporting him. Keifer, he was the one who whistled, is like a big brother to them and he is also the one always guiding the two. Together they are truly the World's Best. Thank you for your reaction and we hope you continue reacting to them because they are amazing performers but they are also really really good kids. :)

The second singer Keifer is probably is the most confident singer, although the kid coming in from the right, Francis, though he's the youngest, will give Keifer a run for his money as far as confidence goes. Mackie was also in the middle of his voice changing so if he is tentative there's a reason. This performance was the zenith of the first part of their career. The three performances brought to bear all that they had learned together over the first two years of their partnership. And You are right there is nothing like sibling harmonies. My two sisters and I sang all the time when when we were young and had many requests at family gatherings and church events. Though we were mortified we would trot out and do what we do. There was 5 and 9 years difference in ages with me being the youngest. Since my voice didn't start to change until I was past 16 a few months, I could sing higher parts than my sis's. We would often sing and change parts in a kind of 'vocal weave'. It worked great on Gospel songs. None of us had a real soloist voice but we sounded pretty good together. Everything in our family kind of blew up around the time I turned 16. My sisters had long ago moved out but things happened that kept us from ever being close again. Then my voice changed and I quit singing in front of people. My father who took great pleasure in making me feel like a failure, certainly didn't waste time in that regard with my singing. Since we stole his thunder with our singing he made sure I knew how bad a singer I had become. These boys will never have to worry about familial encouragement. If you watch what these kids do for their birthdays, and what their families do for them, they will never have an insecure moment, ever. They also have each other which is great because they are all dealing with the puberty thing now. You should watch their quarantine songs. Well my head is pounding so I'm going to beg off now. Thanks for your reaction.

Hey Ken, really appreciate your reaction. But, just have to say, if you were familiar with Jennifer Hudson's popular rendition of this song from Dream Girls, then I wonder what your reaction to the first kid's (Mackie) intro would be, as his mood/tone happens to be very similar. Also, these kids regularly perform confidently in concerts to audiences numbering in the thousands (TWB is a small crowd for them), with their own country's biggest celebs, in competitions (including their commitment to acting out their impersonations) and on tv. So, nerves? Hmm. They are best known for evoking the mood/emotion of the song that they're performing, which is partly what has made them such popular, extraordinary young artists. But, by not knowing the mood of the song or their background, it's easy to assume that any kid should otherwise be nervous in these circumstances... certainly, that's something a new audience would look for.
@Mommy_Cute38275 жыл бұрын
obie juan I agree with Ken that Mackie was a bit nervous at the start. He sounded great but seasoned performers can detect nervousness. The kids admitted that in many interviews that they are always nervous at the start until they hear the audience applaud. But he adjusted quiet fast and gained his confidence it is almost imperceptible.
@noelgarcia70325 жыл бұрын

Dude, what range did Michael lose? I don't know if you've seen a video of his vocal exercises, but he could go baritone LOW and sing super high. There are also a couple of singles on his Invincible album where he's singing so low, its hard to believe its him. Don't go by his greatest hits where he sounds the same. Michael Jackson had a huge range. p.s. I hope I didn't sound rude. I'm not mad at you or anything, lol. I'm just letting you know.

It's true!! Michael never lost his voice, and he learned new techniques
@jcasa36465 жыл бұрын
@Rosannasfriend - i love that you brought that up (no disrespect to Ken, but that comment about MJ irked me a bit as well). TNT Boys have mentioned before that MJ was among their favorite singers, and Keifer, in particular, started singing MJ songs at a very young age. anyone who's familiar with MJ's range (from childhood to adulthood) may easily recognize similarities in the way TNT Boys project emotion in an astonishingly mature fashion when they perform - something that MJ was celebrated for when he was a kid... honestly, Mackie (with his light vibe/dance skills/vocal creativity), Keifer (with his sweet, smooth tones/demeanor) and Francis (with his deep, heartfelt, mature soulfulness) remind me of three little Michaels (and i'm not the first to notice lol). i have no doubt that, like Michael (and other phenomenol singers), these kids will continue to maintain impressive ranges as they move thru to adulthood. i mean, Keifer's 14 y/o and is only getting better (if that were even possible), and the older Francis gets, his belts are getting more powerful! lol Mackie, in particular, is most obviously going through vocal changes currently (he's not the eldest of the three, but puberty effects individual boys differently). that said, the techniques he's working on/getting used to are clearly helping him to develop a deeper, richer vibe - combined with his playful trademark runs & riffs (his part in the "7 Rings" rendition that he did with Francis was fabulous, and uniquely him). i look forward to what else that talented kid comes up with, along with his band bros...they've always been known to surprise :)

I am sorry. I have to disagree. He did lose some range although his voice was so high and incredible. Especially in live. Could be his insane schedule or other things but it's just that he had had freaking high voice before the puberty. I am a big fan of him. I've been to his concert and got every album and I love his adult voice better. however, what Ken stated is factual.

Still waiting for your Sohyang reaction. Btw TNT Boys are just so talented. Natural performers, great chemistry. Kinda surprised they lost to the acapella group. Anyway, I'll patiently wait for your Sohyang reaction!

I wonder that too. I mean, the world loves them as a trio, but I think it also wouldn't be bad if each of the kids have their own songs too. They competed individually (Francis, the chubby kid finished 5th, Mackie the tallest, finished 3rd, and Keifer, the ponytail kid, finished 2nd) so it would be great to also hear again what each kid is best at (Mackie with that RnB vibe, Francis with that soul, and Keifer with that pop).

lidette711 It wouldn't be a bad thing to explore their talents as individuals. Just adds to their toolbox.

I just love how some people in this comment section try to tell YOU what's going on with the singing. Hilarious. They apparently dont know you have one of the greatest vocals of all time!
