I have 20 years experience tuning 2 stroke engines. The key is to start with the base tune given by the manufacturer. From there you would adjust the idle first as the low side will affect the high side tune. After you get it to idle nicely without stalling, hold it in the air/ take the wheels off, hold wide open throttle and adjust the high side rich until you hear the engine change rpm (starting to bogg). Then adjust back lean just to the point where it picks back up. That's the sweet spot. It's also a good idea to mix your fuel a little rich (oil) as the only down side is a bit of a mess, not enough and you will burn up the engine. Same if you run the engine with too lean fuel settings.
@user-TJ3654 ай бұрын
@@nick-bh5qs this right here. Patience is key as well for proper low side tuning, it needs to sit at idle for a bit, listen for a change in rpm with the throttle in the closed position, then apply WOT. If it quits right away, it’s too lean, stumbles then revs-too rich. Get the throttle response correct then tune high needle.

Just my opinion: I have broken in loads of engines, and there is a break-in period before it levels out before you "fine tune" the carb. Run rich for 4 or 5 tanks (lots of white exhaust). It is VERY important that the engine stays cool during these 5 ranks. Also, during this break-in period, you should not jam the throttle. No more than 50% at most. Tank 6, lean out the carb 1/4, turn for another 1/4 tank, and repeat. Once the engine engages the power band within 1.5 - 2 seconds, then it's close. Open the needle (rich), just a smidgen. This will allow the engine to idle nice and low. You still should have some good smoke when punching the throttle. Less smoke = HEAT, amb that will BOG the engine when you slam the throttle. I would LOVE to have one of these. So cool, and I love your channel, Kev!

Also your carb is to lean also #2 check all carb gaskets for air leaks.#3 I also noticed your exhaust pipe is bouncing around to much you will break your header off if you keep it that way. Install a rear exhaust stinger mount to fix that issue. Happy r/c my friend.

an idea for your tuning, by the way it cuts at higher rpm , it could be worth checking that the fuel tank is able to supply the fuel consistently. perhaps the breather valve / hose isn't allowing the pressure in the tank to be even or a vacuum when the engine requires more fuel it is having too much effort to suck it from the tank? at low rpm or starting the fuel can be drawn slowly but higher demand is causing a vacuum and making it lean and cut out.

And not just what paint you use but how you paint makes a big difference in durability and thick coats down first thing is not going to help with the durability or the curing process laying down a thin coat letting it dry and then doing multiple coats over the top of it is the way to go and if you really want it to stay on their good find an oven that you can put the painted Parts in and turn it to about 350 or 400 and let it sit for 25 to 35 minutes and then take it out and let it cool down I'm leaving the axle together and painting it is going to look good until the first time you have to take it apart and then it is going to look horrendous you might get away with running a razor blade around every scene before you pull it apart but there's a pretty good chance of it chipping off
