Look up books and videos on Richard Fortey, the UK's trilobite expert. He has studied them his whole life. extract from Wikepedia:- Fortey has had a long career as a palaeontologist at the Natural History Museum in London[ his research interests include above all, trilobites: at the age of 14, he discovered his first trilobite, sparking a passionate interest that later became a career. He has named numerous trilobite species and still continues his research despite having retired from the Museum.

Those are very cool. But the name comes from the three longitudinal lobes rather than the cephalon, thorax and pygidium.

Hmmm...the largest trilobites? How about this big boy Em. In 1998, a 28 inch-long specimen of Isotelus rex (roughly “The King of Trilobites”) was collected by members of the Royal Ontario Museum along the shores of Hudson Bay in Manitoba, Canada, making it the largest complete trilobite yet found. Love the displays at the Geopark!

I've seen one at Arouca which was 35" long... Arouca is only 400 miles from here, I go there every coupla years and it never ceases to amaze me. And there are many other fossils there, not oly trilobites. There are also the remains of a Roman gold mine nearby. Visit if you can.

I thought it took a long time before the creatures were covered to be fossilised. They were buried quickly. Wow

I don't know if you are aware of it but there is a fossil hunter in Portugal who issues KZbin videos of his searches under the name Ze Jurassico. He might be able to help you find areas to hunt in x

Horseshoe crab rather than horse crab. They are actually quite large. I don't know the average size but live ones live on the east coast of America are commonly a third of a meter head to start of the tail. Counting the tail they are often over half a meter.

Trilobites are named for the three longitudinal lobes (left and right pleural lobes and central axial lobe), NOT because of the head/body/tail segmentation(cephalon/thorax/pygidium). Thought you should know...
