The grenade is scored in the inside, and produces circa 326 fragments with a mean starting velocity of 1800 meters per second, having a lethal radius of about 3 meters. The fragment size, shape and mass is optimised so the fragments lose velocity fast at around 5 meters from the detonation point, resulting in a "combat" safe distance of 25 meters. Supposedly SOF forces like it quite a bit.

@stevestruthers61804 ай бұрын
@@TheCrapOnYourStrapOn True, although many people live with the impression that it's mainly the shrapnel from a grenade that kills. It's actually the concussion that does most of the work. The shrapnel wounds those who are close to the explosion, but maybe not close enough to be killed.
@TheCrapOnYourStrapOn4 ай бұрын
@@stevestruthers6180 I’m going to have to disagree with you. The amount of explosive in this device would be enough to kill if it was very very close (basically touching you) The fragmentation is the primary means of causing damage, especially with a device this small. Think flashbang. The fragmentation even from a device as small as an m67 can reach 100 meters or more for large fragments. It’s why in the current war they are beginning to issue soldiers Kevlar based clothing and things like neck sleeves and groin protection The human body can take very high pressures as long as the pressure wave is fast enough. When you start getting into Thermobarics with slower moving pressure waves the explosion itself is the primary cause of casualties
