As I watch this interview with Colin Edwards I can see the fire in his eyes, still!!! As the interview started and the race, it's as if Colin switched on his race face and was racing all over again! Wonderful! As many of you have said this is one of the most memorable final WSBK battles in my opinion! This race comes up quite often when I'm reminiscing with friends. I was cheering for Haga at the time as I had a brand new Mille R that year! He finished well all things considered. God Bless you Colin for the courage and determination! You represented beautifully!

The 2002 Laguna livery is the best there has ever been on a motorcycle, so glad I was there that weekend.

I was there at Tossa corner. The crowd was obviously for Troy Boy but yeah great race and I still love seeing this race again. Possibly one of the best Superbike races ever....and for the championship. Well done Colin......Imola oh what a great track. So much history and the feeling of the place. Also vale Senna...magical place. I feel lucky to have been there that day

Awesome! I'll never forget Imola and Edwards v Bayliss! My dad and I watched, and as a Ducati fan I had to turn my back on Bologna for the day and root for my countryman! Regardless, the two put on the best racing display I could ever have asked for. I was so proud that my dad watched this first SBK race with me, because we will always remember it.

I'm a huge Edwards fan. I remember watching him race AMA here in the states racing the Vlance and Hines Yamaha. I watched this race live on TV and I remember screaming GO EDWARDS GOOOO at the TV. After the race I remember feeling so happy and having a big smile on my face. I was hoping to meet him one year at the Long Beach Motorcycle Show where he was scheduled to sign autographs, but I ended up getting real and not being able to go. I missed my chance. I was so bummed. Still a huge fan and always stoked to see him on videos like this. It always brings back good memories.

Those were the years, positivity overload. So much greatness all around between great riders, with great battles, and when all was done their smiles and compliments at the flash interviews left you with the most satisfying feeling, regardless of who won. It's what SBK was all about: great racing, great fun and great respect.

For a guy who has talked a lot about other's races the past few years, you can see the emotion on his face as he relives this. Perhaps the best WSBK championship year in history! Bayliss won 14 race and Edwards 11 but Edward rarely finished below 2 (2 x 3rd and 1 x 4th) whereas Bayliss finished 5th twice and retired once. Edwards was on form in 2002.

@@darekm6859 did you saw another race before in your life ? :))) When they started last lap Haga has some +1 sec lead. That's enough in any racing for one lap .With equal bikes he would have won that by 10 seconds. Still Edwards passed him after two straight lines due to way faster bike.And was not just lucky. Haga had 750cc bike vs 1000cc bike Edwards had. Young Haga was the best rider of his time in Sbk .

@@darekm6859 you should consider watching something else if you don't understand this sport. Haga was much faster in corners , Edwards bike on the straights. In the whole race you can see clearly this lap after lap. If i have to explain this oblivious thing it's no point to waste time with you

Honda comes out and beats Ducati at the V-twin game... then rules change to 1000cc 4 cylinder bikes. I will never understand why Honda seems to refuse to race a V4 1000 cc bike. The V4 750 seemed to work really well....
