I was totally won over by this sensitive and heart achingly sad story. The entire production is a joy. I will watch the series over and over . Straight 10s.

I love Chaske. He is a wonderful, multi-faceted actor. When he’s on the screen, you can’t look at anyone else.

I've probably seen every western movie ever made (80 yo in 3 weeks), and I rank this in the Top 10 (also 1883). Everything about it gets a 10 from me. The chemistry between Emily and Chaske was palpable; both did a fantastic job. But every aspect of this movie is a 10. Emily Blunt is one of the most versitle actresses ever. No challenge is too great for her. She deserves an Emmy and Golden Globe for this performance. As is the case with almost all of the movies/series that I love, I will wait about 6 months and watch it again. Everyone needs to see this Masterpiece!

I'm just going to say one word after viewing all of The English - More. Please give us more excellent stories, amazing actors and beautiful scenes to draw you in to worlds worth visiting. So much of what is fed to us has no reality, no beauty and no redeeming value. The English ticks ALL the boxes. Please. More.

I can’t seem to get enough interviews for the cast and crew of “The English”. There’s so much good insight from Hugo here, and you can see how Emily and Chaske worked together with him.

Someone needs to mention the sounds, or lack thereof, to aid in the telling of this tale. It was sublime.

I'm obsessed with this beautifully done series. The chemistry between Cornelia and Eli is so unique to me. I remember the scene I think E1 or E2 when Eli takes the bow from Cornelia's hand and start flicking the bow string. I noticed that her right hand did the same exact flicking motion his did and stopped at the same time his did! It didn't look like it was part of the script. It looked so natural to me, now that's a connection.

I absolutely loved 'The English' as it took on a more personal level of similar events of that time. Eli was both complex and multifaceted but you are totally drawn in by his character and eventually his love he had for Cornelia, which was mutual. Nothing was corny or cliche between them both but the shock ending when we discover she has syphilis, was raped, had a son that died, looses her soulmate ( Eli) and returns to England with that hideous disease. It's sad that she never has that happy ending but also we hear no more of Eli who vanishes into the wind.

I was devastated at the end because it wasn't a happy ending, but it is not all a genuine love story end with the way we want. Both Cornelia & Eli have to choose their own path.

I don't think I can ever look at Rafe Spall in the same way again. He deserves a BAFTA. Where he pulled the character of David Melmont from I really don't know. Truly shocking.....gave me shivers!

He is brilliant as the “villain” in this. So disgusting and hateful.

Hugo Blick was Jack Napier (the young Joker)??? Holy Batman! Btw, I LOVE The English, everything about it! Of course Emily and Chaske really glued me to the screen, but the story is amazing (violent as it is), the love is just... painfully beautiful, etc...

The chemistry was good. Went flat on ep 4 and 5. They shouldn't have stuffed it with too many sub-plots. 7/10
