Truls is improving and lessening the gap to the fantastic Chinese top 3. He certainly has a bright future! A better backhand first attack and the gap will decrease even further. 😄🏓

@@railrunner1 Yes, it seemed like Truls had found a way to overcome Fans overall-game. But Fan managed to find new ways to win. Thats part of his and Ma's greatness. Anyway, Truls is getting closer and closer! Good for tabletennis!

What an immense match! Perfect response to those mocking why Moregard is ranked no. 7! He is right there at the top still only 21 so much room for improvement! He is the most creative player in the world which he uses exceptionally as he seems to be calmed down. He may not become as fast as the Chinese players but can compensate it with creativity, strategy and experience. Fan Zhendong is a notion in himself, even if he has a bad day or a difficult oppontent his class takes over. No. 1 ranked for a very long time for good reason. Very excited to see him playing Ma Long who's getting back in GOAT form again.

Я думаю если бы Трулс додавил бы в 4й партии Фана на балансе, то забрал бы игру. Очень много очков по линии с бэкхенда прилетало, это и сыграло основную роль, как мне кажется. Но Фан конечно машина, без спору.

Блоки очень крутые были с сильнейших топсов и прям и прям в нужное время для ФанженДонга. В темповой теннис с ним на одном уровне мало кто может играть.

После матча сложилось впечатление, что Трулс подтянулся, (преимущественно в области психологии и страха перед Фаном) а Фан просел в области физики(но ещё недостаточно для победы Трулса). Отсюда и такой результат. Кажется, что дальше будет только хуже у Фана и бесконечного количества пиков формы, как у Ма Лонга, ему не будет дано. Согласен, что матч получился очень классным и эмоциональным. Смотреть было одно удовольствие. P.S. Фан, когда играл в мужской паре, потирал спину... P.P.S. Трулс в первом матче как будто спал и не играл совсем, но потом включил турбо-режим, а Фан просел. Парню надо тянуть психологию, искать мотивацию, чтобы бороться за каждое очко при любом раскладе и до конца, тогда он реально сможет конкурировать со всеми топ китами и выведет европейский теннис на достойный уровень. Но такие мотивации и яйца есть далеко не у всех...Надежда на Перссона, у которого они точно были и что он сможет передать это Трулсу. Имхошечка, разумеется)

這場 我有大概率信心敢說 這場是有史以來強度可能是最強的一場比賽 有著最快的攻擊 跟最快的防禦格擋 跟反殺 是目前世界上應該沒有過這種強度的比賽 在這場出現之前 我認為世界之最強比賽 可能是馬林-馬龍 或者 樊振東-馬龍 或 馬龍-許昕 但是這場在速度上又超出一個境界 比瘋狂還更瘋狂 幾乎沒有時間思考就光速攻擊 跟光速反殺的境界

Great effort by Moregard. His backhand matches up to Fan’s. And he caught Fan on the transition from backhand to forehand. He must having been watching videos of Ma beating Fan. Shouldn’t use that chop block too often against someone of Fan’s level. Sure, slows the point down, gives you time to reset, and is a disrupter against one speed players. If Fan reads the ball correctly, you’re hosed.

What are you guys talking about. Truls used chopblocks 10 times in this game and won the point in seven of those points. Clearly Fan could not deal with the chop block. He adopted some in the later part of the game, but Truls won the point on his first five chop blocks.

I believe, that was quite a match up, both of them are quite competitive even though Fan is much more experienced than Truls but man o man, Truls have showed some class and played Fan with his versatile timely selected shots and wondered Fan to be honest, I knew the odds of Fan to win that clash was high, but at the same time I know FZD is going to recieve some competition and not a easy win or day for FZD for the most part I reckoned

I was lucky enough to get a ticket to watch the final match of the 2021 World Table Tennis Championships between Fan Zhendong and Truls Moregard. It was supposed to be a thrilling clash between the world number one and the young Swedish sensation. But boy, was I wrong. It turned out to be a one-sided massacre that made me question my life choices. Fan Zhendong was unstoppable. He attacked every ball with ferocious speed and spin, leaving Moregard no chance to react. I felt sorry for Moregard, who looked like a deer caught in headlights. He tried to fight back with some flashy shots, but they were either too long or too wide or too weak. The fourth game was even worse. Fan Zhendong raced to a 10-0 lead and had ten match points. I thought he would finish it quickly and put Moregard out of his misery. But no, he decided to toy with him like a cat playing with a mouse. He let Moregard score two points before unleashing his final killer smash. The crowd erupted in applause for Fan Zhendong's dominant performance. He smiled and waved at us as he lifted his first singles gold medal at the world championships. Moregard looked devastated and walked off the court without shaking hands with Fan Zhendong or the umpire. I felt cheated by this match. I paid $100 for this ticket and expected to see some exciting rallies and close games. Instead, I saw a brutal display of power and skill that made me wonder why I even bothered to watch table tennis in the first place.

My question: in critical moment, say Olympic final 3:3, 9:10 or 9:9 in the 7th, if you are Truls, do you play chop block again to disrupt Fan? My answer: very hard to win that way. By that time, Fan probably has already seen quite a few similar shots, and Truls ran the risk of getting killed directly by Fan, instead extend the rally and find opportunities through the back and forth. Truls can win quite a few points that way before the deciding point, but because it is not a fundamental skill set, it can’t be repeated regularly and can’t get refined. Truls in critical moments have a difficult choice: do I play other skill based strong shots (change pace, direction) or run the risk that Fan is getting used to chop blocks and can kill it and leave Truls no chance to return.
