That's a super valid question. The funny part is as you're a more advanced bike nerd you know the terms like seat post and seat tube but that's when you start calling it saddle 😅

Think of your bike as a horse...then you know why seats are called saddles
@henkki10004 жыл бұрын
Because it is a saddle. A saddle is a type of seat where you sit with one leg on either side. If you just say "seat" it could be anything. A chair, a bench, a toilet seat, a children's seat, a bar stool, a sofa or ejection seat.

I'm still using a WTB Pure I took off a 2005 Kona Stinky on my aggressive hardtail. Thankfully it's in great condition because I mostly ride downhill and not very often. 15 years ago WTB saddles were not available in my country and I fell in love with it when I saw a Stinky at a bike shop. Lucky for me it was intended to be stripped for parts and the cockpit and saddle were still available.

for Triathlon, is completely recommended take your bike to a professional bike fitting service, because the posture on the bike completely relies on your flexibility. Doesn't matter if the saddle is the correct one, if your bars are too low for your flex, or your saddle is too far forward on the rails. Just my 2 cents.

I like a range of saddles that I have ridden, but the one saddle I have had in multiple bikes and works well for a wide range of riding styles and disciplines is the Charge Spoon saddle. I’ve had it on an all mountain/enduro bike and two freeride/park bikes and it’s strong, pretty, and comfy.

Thanks for making a video on this! I typically ride 5-8 hours per week but I tend to do more 'trail' riding with a good mix of climbing and descending. My saddle definitely doesn't fit super well but I really had now clue where to start looking. For reference, I have a Bontrager saddle on my MTB (not sure which model), and a Fabric saddle on my gravel bike. I've definitely noticed how quickly the fabric saddle gets narrow which I'm not a big fan of so maybe I need to try one that's a bit wider. Thanks for all of your tips!

In Texas we pedal a lot for short fast downhill mountain biking. Recently getting back into the sport everyone I met was on WTB, after going through 4 of their models none worked. Went through 5 other brands $150-$400 same bad feel. Then picked up a Ergon enduro pro and was perfect, 15-20 miles of pedaling became a joy. I just say go sit on a few, as everyone is different. TBH most downhill riders rarely sit on their saddle and would not know any difference between them other than "style". Also just recently ordered a rear shock upgrade from ya'll great price and fast shipping, I will be back.

Funny, Ergon SM Pro feels great, WTB Silverado just hurts, like night and day. Fabric is somewhere in between, fine for 2-3h, but they do get creaky. I do have wide sit bones, and width is absolutely critical regardless of brand.

At the end of the day, it's personal preference. I run a goofy looking Specialized "body form" seat when riding distance or out on a family ride but if there's some nice hill action then out comes my nice light, slim kind of uncomfortable in the long run Nukeproof. The body form is unrivalled so far in comfort but it's cumbersome hitting hills. You might find a cheap Apollo (Halfords special) seat feels good to you. Run it. Who cares if you're on a Yeti and you're putting a seat from a £200 junker on there. The best bike in the world is the bike you like to ride the most.

My stock saddle was so hard I literally hated riding on it. But when I changed it into a noseless ISM touring saddle, I was totally pain-free in my perineum. Aside from the absence of a nose, the ISM saddle has a round middle cutout that avoids compressing my perineum. I could sit on it for 24 hours and feel no pain! Never will I go back to a normal saddle with a nose again. The ISM touring saddle is the ultimate saddle! Highly recommended!

Hi, I have a question. Why enduro and downhill bikes use long nose saddle?. I heard that people say some UCI rules, But I was thinking to to use short nose saddle for downhill and enduro as the swork power saddle or the bisaddle, that is 23 cm or 9 inches length. I think that, because the weight saddle, free space for pedaling. Thankyou.
