Vietnam. The island is known for its stunning limestone mountains, lush green jungle, and pristine beaches. You can find a range of outdoor activities which make a great alternative to the more expensive Ha Long Bay cruises. The central hub is Cat Ba Town, which is framed by a range of hotels, travel agencies, and restaurants. And while this is the most touristic part of the island, the rest is largely untouched and wild with the scenic Lan Ha Bay just offshore. We were there in early December! It was sunny as we were pretty lucky with the weather! It was very very quiet indeed. I think it’s best to avoid the Vietnamese holidays as then the island fills up with local tourists. Especially weekends are bad too we heard. I guess June is the start of their summer break 😅 but maybe not as bad as July yet
