I wondered what the holes in the ground were about and came across this video. Really informative, thank you

Such a shame to cut all those beautiful trees down. The hill fort is just piles of rocks now, how exactly are the trees damaging it? Why cut down so many? Even ones nowhere near the piles of rocks. Surely archeologists work around the trees? I would recommend having a look at the amount of trees proposed to be cut down, you will be shocked.

The tree roots damage/destroy the archaeological evidence. You are looking at an ancient British culture prior to the Romans. Those remains are crucial to our ancestors civilization before Roman invasion, and are irreplaceable. Yes the trees are beautiful, but trees can be planted elsewhere, our heritage cannot. It’s also important to note how relatively recently those trees were planted on the whim of gentry for game.

There's still miles of woodland there, it's important to preserve the archeological site though.
