I started trying after watching some gardening videos that didn't explain enough so I killed all of my worms twice. I wrote it off until I watched Capt Matt. There are other good youtubers like Meme's Worms and Pachamama Worms off the top of my head. You can learn everything you need to know between those 3. Meme is great at not only showing how to do it but also the other jobs involved like packing your worms for shipping.

Regards from Australia! I do things differently. I got 4 60 litre garbage bins drilled holes in the bottom . Covered it up with very fine mesh . And drilled fine holes in the lead for air flow . Than I’ve moved the bins on bricks and have put an container underneath to catch the leach ,worm tea . After I’ve filled the bins with food ,compost and worms I poor 10 litre water trough it each week and use the water mixed with chicken manure Fish fertiliser etc for the garden . Ive Never had a so good Garden . When I wanted to harvest a bin I’ve stop feeding for a short while , than I feed in one corner and take the worms out . Ive used to make heaps of compost, but realised that the trees around my compost bin do better than my vegetables. I wanted to use the run off water for my garden . That’s how I came up with this idea . Mat you are an legend , great to see how you handle your grand children and what opportunity’s you give them . Even if they don’t do worm farming they learn a lot for life . I take my swagger ( Australian hat ) any time off for you Mate

That’s ingenious Richard - I love how experimenting leads to good results and different techniques! It would be great to have you share photos over at the discussion forum at community.wormpeople.com/ I know the Worm People there would really find it inspiring.

Good morning fellow worm herders from Jesus and me! Great to hear from others how they started, grew and are "worming on"! It is encouraging to know that those who are farming on a far larger scale have had struggles and some failures. It is easy to forget that like any other business there is a learning curve! Hop you all have a wonderful time together back there!

What a GREAT video! I have been an avid worm head for almost 20 years. (thanks to Bentley "the compost guy" Christie).... It is quite evident that we all share a high degree of passion for our wigglers. Thanks to all for all you do. May your worms stay fat & happy!

I started middle of September , I had made a deal on Kijiji to buy 200 fat red wigglers for 30 dollar Canadian but the day I’m suppose to pick up my worms I got a text from the seller refusing to sell the worms cause he couldn’t stand the idea of having the worms feeding trouts , , so I just found another seller and bought a pound of red wigglers, wen I got them they were all babies 😢 I almost got break down I wanted to trow them away cause he as advertised big ones , so I just went and bought half a pound of Europeans To another seller ,😊 I could finally go fishing but the season is close now , I started watching worm Chanel’s to learn and now am the proud owner of thriving colony of Red wigglers / Europeans And the wild lumbricus rubellus 😊 no more going to tackle store paying 10 dollars for 24 red worms

It was great to meet you and Jude and Luke this weekend! Fantastic video and a fantastic time! The speech you gave to the conference on being the answer to the garbage being used on our food and crops was inspiring. Worm people will reshape the industry and clean up the food cycle! Thank you, Captain Matt!

Nooooooo😩😩😩 to wormies for fishing… 🎣 🪱🪱🟰😢🪱 Larry’s favorite is one of my fave - the Canadian Night Crawlers I bet! I raised Lumbricus Terrestius (swamp worm lol). I just released my over wintered Canadians in my garden and they have made their burrows and if they like it, they don’t leave! - it’s super cute because they pop out at night and don’t shy from me. I really think k they recognize my voice and know I am not a predator. Also, many Canadians look a bit different from one another and since they are large those differences are quite recognizable so I can recognize they were from my bin (sounds cray cray but I visited my buddies a ton) - I find there is weird info about Canadians. Raising in the fridge? All they need is a super deep bin so they can burrow: like three feet and outdoor natural soil and leaves. No need to refrigerate.

Fascinating thoughts HildeAzul ... are you in the forum over at WormPeople.com? It would be great to have a conversation about Canadian Night Crawlers over there... though the can't be cultivated with standard worm farming methods - we're with you in that it could be figured out... and could be very beneficial. We’d be honored to have you join the forum over at community.wormpeople.com - your hard-earned experience would be so valuable to the community.
