I think Team17's general consensus is that this is they're first time making a game like worms rumble and they probably wanted to make sure the game as a base played well before adding more fancy features. And it's not like it won't happen at all, the game just came out publicly and there's still plenty of opportunities to update the game with more extras

@@seanjames6000 There's really no point in making a new classic worms game now since Worms: Armageddon (a game which came out 20 years ago) is overall still considered the cream of the crop in terms of worms gameplay and is still being officially supported by the developers so it's unlikely a new game would meet those standards. This is just a different take to widen the series for more audiences.

Worms to me, was a way of having DBZ vs Tekken and Street Fighter if you had the imagination. Early 2000’s worms was so much fun. Staying up till 5am in the FSU dorms keeping everyone else up

I think the aesthetic looks and sounds like a mix of Splatoon and Overwatch, if that makes sense. The gameplay looks fun, maybe needs some more Worms elements but I like what they're trying.

Looking at the menu screen I was all "Oh dear they went full plants vs zombies garden warfare didn't they?" after watching training a bit "Phew... not that bad, maybe this will be good?" and then the "oh its just a worms themed other game... disappointing :(" Funny how Jon keeps talking about having played worms before while this has basically nothing in common with worms games to the point that other than the characters being worms and some of the weapons being loosely based on worms weapons having any experience in worms games previously would actually be a disadvantage if you expect things to work at all like they have done for decades. But it looks fun and WMD isn't so old that a new classic worms game is being yearned for so as long as people having fun I guess.

Honestly, this seems like the only thing it has in common with the original games are the shape of the players and the weapons. Everything else is completely different, and not better. I see a flash in the pan rather than an endearing, long lasting game.

By the way, why so few weapons and no wind or destructible terrain ? The game is so frantic it's almost unreadable... A definitive nope for me, especially with the worms tag on it. Guess I'll play world party or armaggedon to cheer myself up after seeing such a lazy cash grab from team 17 (even worms golf was less shamefull for the franchise than this one...).

This is basically an ugly mix of Worms, super smash bros, and CoD. Without the destructible terrain and turn based you essentially have super smash worms. And the restriction on items and random passive healing is entirely out if the spirit of worms. I am not really impressed with this game, it just ripped off the popular games and abandoned the original series.
