Oh, Doug! A definite thumbs up!👍 I was diggin' the shape and colors, then you put the sanding sealer on and those colors popped!😲😱🤯 What an absolutely gorgeous piece! It would be fun to drop a light source in it (like those little electric tea candles) to illuminate the turquoise! Not that the piece needs any help. It's beautiful as is!!! Always fun watching you.. Mesquite is quite hard and tough with a specific gravity of .67-.83. That compares to hickory with sg .64 to .81. And desert ironwood with sg of .97 to 1.21. So the wood is tough on hands when chips fly out. Years ago wormy wood like this we just thru it into the wood stove for heat.. I have rescued so much with the advent of resin and color over the last 4-5 years.. I do do what you did here is use a dermel tool to grind out where worms have packed in behind where they have been.. I also like to grind out cracks in this way and fill with 5 minute colored resin.. Thanks.. It was fun watching..

a lot of us enjoy watching the resin fly so i wouldn’t call it a waste, just call it good content! and that teal is really perfect for this piece, but i bet it’d look awesome swirled with some pearl black in a more resin dominant type project.

Definitely nice. I enjoy seeing what you come up with . I myself when comes to woodworking stuff usually I just goof around with scrap lumber my brother gets from barn building company he works for. Usually I'm just tracing stuff out with a jig saw or messing around with a wood burning pen. I don't personally make anything super fancy just basic beginner stuff.
