Well said, Simon! It's all about the process. That is where the growth, joy and purpose is.

completely agree with you here. we are artists because we love the process of making art. an aspect of this issue you didn't touch on, however, is with these AI models, the computer doesn't just pull the "art" out of thin air. the guys that run these programs scrape as much art off the internet as they can and the computer essentially blends it all up and makes a collage out of the bits. my wife for example has had her art stolen and integrated into mindjourney. if these ai models sourced their training/reference material ethically I might feel differently about them, but as it stands thousands of artists are being ripped off and plagiarized. very sad situation. feels like the NFT crap all over again, just tech bros and crypto grifters trying to take advantage of other peoples' hard work. but NFTs didn't stick around and this AI stuff probably won't either. all these companies are already getting sued into the dirt. we'll keep creating, it's what we do.

i dont think I'll stop drawing. But for projects which require other human's attention for their completion, AI art is terrifying on how it floods and devalues real art.

AI generated art is the same as a musician "sampling" someone elses sound without licensing it. The only difference is that there's no systems right now to protect the digital visual creatives. there's some artists with a strong style, and that should be called out if you find a semblance of it in your AI generated image. double check, if you have time, to see if if they've licensed or asked for permission from the artist.

Hello sir, after watching your video, I think it makes sense. As a master in the industry, the perspective of looking at things is also high-dimensional. But as a newcomer who loves art and concept design, the current environment is not friendly, this is a fact! The threshold of the industry is getting higher and higher, and there is no opportunity to enter the industry to exercise myself, but the income problem cannot make me idealistic. How to choose between ideals and cruel reality is really depressing.

To digital artists out there, develop your skill and style, and keep your content away from AI, then train your own AI with your work. Then use that to power up your work.

no, i'm not using ai, why is everyone acting like there's no AI option. I don't care what cartoon network is doing. I'm not using your dumb ai system. I will make my work, not generate it. period.

@@hammerandthewrench7924 Using it as a part of the process doesn't make the whole thing generated, and doesn't mean having to directly use the output per-se. THIS mindset will lead to people who aren't prudish about using it as a part of the process leaving you in the dust.

The same thing has been going on with woodcarving and CNC machining. Unless we make a robot that can actually paint a masterpiece that is AI generated there is always a difference... Which as a programmer would be an awesome project 🙂. Use the AI stuff as inspiration or as carvers sometimes do, let the machine do the rough work and manually add the finishing touches

this is actually what I had a talk about in a local pod cast artists who have been working for a long time can! in fact! train their own private models using their own sketches and their own style and own art and even set of pictures. it is tedious but clean and then using that model in private on their own devices to create sketches and art ( a base to start of ) that will also give them the power to take back their images, their data set out of the hands of the corpos, the fight in court could have a much stronger case, as it will become ( an invasion of a private data set )

good content! Proces is key. AI , makes a copy = generation 01 , AI , makes a copy from a copy = generation 02, AI makes a copy, from a copy, from a copy = generation 03 .... fighting is not necessary I think, the value of orginality , unique being increases enormes, this is thanks to AI , its a good thing its out there. cliche's are now AI results. No match to the combination concept, time and shape by humans.

first successful artist who has made a video about AI art that I can agree with. A very universal and practical approach to adapting to the everchanging landscape of life and the challenges one will inevitably face. and "why did you become an artist in the first place?" boom there's gonna be both successful artists who use and do not use AI -- THAT I have no doubt about. But just like with Shopify and Squarespace and Wix and PayPal and Print on Demand--saving you from having to know and operate an in-person store-front and manage and house inventory and logistics and manufacturing, and even coding a website manually, and let's not forget payroll.... decent art is now at everyone's fingertips--AND it's more doable now more than ever, to be able to go solo and be independent. every generation had different challenges. But let's face it... just like how most businesses fail, countless artists have failed and given up--WAY BEFORE the advent of AI. people drop out of school. People drop out of courses and switch majors all the time. AI has presented artists the opportunity to prove their resolve and adaptability. If people give up... perhaps life is showing them they're meant to do something else. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. They might actually discover gifts they didn't know they had. Or discover something that's more suited to the gifts they've been given. in a similar light, there's gonna be people who use AI who get bored of it; or it inspires them to want to be better so that they can fix the problems of AI art and improve upon it. there's so many different scenarios. which goes back to the main point of 'you gotta deal with the cards you've been dealt' where were all the artists protesting about translators who lost their jobs to AI-trained and powered Google Translate? and last I checked, Google didn't disclose their training datasets. those people got displaced and had to adapt; either create a brand or company or idea for themselves to differentiate... or move onto something else. when western governments incentivized domestic companies to move their manufacturing overseas..... people got displaced and had to adapt. I like it when you say "what other options do we have?" There's a lot of things outside of our control. And like you said... it's how we make of it. it can be a harsh truth, but people forget that Mother Nature can be very unforgiving. Out in the wild, prey get hunted, killed, eaten everyday. I saw on a reel not too long ago, a dog getting killed by a lion. 'Man's best friend'. It was extremely disheartening to watch it walking down a dirt road, minding its own business, to suddenly hear it go from barking, in a defensive stance--to the saddest of whimpers--in a matter of seconds. Are events like that fair? The dog was in the wrong place at the wrong time. And Life, Mother Nature, God, The Universe or w/e you want to call it--allowed it.

I agree with all you said. I've been working as a 3D artist for over a decade and even though there are more and more tools to make things automated, I still enjoy the process. I see AI as an extension of us to increase productivity, but I'll still draw in paper and smash pieces of clay always I can 😆

Many of the complaints about IA are from people who, if they were selling candles, would complain about the invention of the light bulb, instead of trying to adapt, they blame the world. If you are an artist, you find a rock and start drawing the floor.
