As others have said, this isn't Junna's band, she's just one of the additions in their new lineup and seems like a good fit. Hagane is very much guitarist Sakura's project, as one of the founding members and main songwriter. Junna previously played in 'Girls Rock Band Kakumei' from 2013-2020, which turned into TRiDENT after her graduation from the group. She'd been playing various support gigs with bands whilst trying to find a new more permanent home.

Hagane was formed around 2018 by Sakura the guitarist. Nagi the vocalist is their third. The former vocalist Uyu and other guitarist Mayto left the band about a year ago and went to form the band Mana Diagram. Kanako the former drummer left at the same rime. She has been seen most recently playing for Paleneo. Nagi is a self-described novice and Junna the current has been a session player for the last couple of years. She was in the band "Girls Rock Band Kakumei" now known as Trident. GRBK with Junna was formed with Trident's current bassist Serina and guitarist/vocalist Asaka right out of high school back in 2014. Trident has removed all of their video with Junna in them. But several people have reuploaded them. I have one of the first GRBK MV's on mine. They were a four piece early on.

junna is an absolute beast. and a very cute one at that ! this band could be very big. just love them. they have been around since 2018 but reformed recently with the new vocalist nagi and junna on the skins - the guitarist and bassist are the 2 original members left from the old lineup. guitarist sakura is 26 , bassist sayaka is 27 , junna is 28 and nagi ? unknown. they were very good before but now they are approaching the realm of greatness. another song that was recently released is ' the 5 swords of japan'. killer tune - link to official mv from their channel : kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZmwkqCElKl1hZY

Yeah, I submitted both songs but chose the live one for Matt to react to. Junna and Nagi have taken Hagane to another level. And Sakura is a great guitarist and songwriter. Can't wait until they release a full album. Would also be cool if they added another talented guitarist to duel with Sakura. Junna also posted her isolated performance from the other video on her personal YT channel. 🤘🤘

@@stevecain6377 good work - hagane needs to get a lot more recognition. and yes - an extra guitar would send their capability over the top - LOVEBITES style ! sakura is phenomenal and it would free her up for doing killer leads - and of course if they got another lead player similar to midori or miyako ? watch out.

On venue size: this is a pretty normal Japanese "live house" venue...perhaps even larger than average. Even well-established bands play these venues a lot over here. I'll be seeing Nemophila at a smaller one than this later this month. As a guitarist, I got into this band initially for Sakura and Mayto in the older lineup, but this new lineup makes it easy to spread the love. Rock solid bassist Sayaka wrote this one (most of Hagane's songs are written by Sakura), and Junna has a gazillion KZbin views for good reason...but in some ways I'm most blown away by vocalist Nagi. How can an unknown rookie (this is her very first band) not only have such vocal chops but also this kind of confident, charismatic stage presence? That outro second chorus is soaring.

If you're wondering about the roots of Japanese speed metal, then it'd be worth looking into early X-Japan, who were part of the first wave of the Visual Kei movement. Also for western contributions, the neo-classical influenced shredders like Yngwie J Malmsteen, Michael Schenker and Paul Gilbert still have a big following in Japan.

This isn’t live audio btw… it’s the almost scammy way many Japanese bands market “live” videos, replacing the live audio with the studio version so that the only thing “live” is the visuals. Or worse in this case, where they selectively inject shouts to the crowd to fool the average listener into believing they’re listening to a live performance.

Agree, this reactor usually has this condescending know-it-all attitude... just because he hadn't heard of this band he automatically assumed they were inexperienced newcomers. Personally, I prefer Sakura over Midori & Miyako any given day... but I really miss Mayto in the band.😔

"Better" is a pretty subjective term. Until slotting into the new Hagane, I'd say either of those two were "better" in terms of their drumming being a better fit with the music of their respective projects. I love Junna, but she tended to seriously overplay in GRBK. But her hyperkinetic style is perfect for Hagane (and Sakura wouldn't let her get away with overplaying anyway!). As far as technical chops go, I'd call it a wash between her and Akane, with Haruna easily on par with her footwork but perhaps a _tiny_ bit arears in stick skills and capacity for timing intricacies. But it's also worth pointing out that unless you actually have the opportunity to jam with any musician, you can't really be certain you know their technical limits from their recording output.
