I went through Army basic training in 1997. The chapel played this song one Sunday and it struck a chord with my soul. I wrote home, telling my mom we sang a song about a deer. 😂 She researched it in their hymnal and she wrote back that their church sang this song in honor of me. I ❤my mama.

When we are at a dark place, and think we have done/lost everything - He is waiting patiently, for us to surrender our weak, feeble, hopeless, burdened souls on Him - and allow Him the opportunity to show us that He is GOD - THE ONLY GOD WHO CREATED HEAVEN AND EARTH. I was incarcerated in 2003 and it was in the prisons chapel I first heard this song. I loved when it was sang and it lifted my spirit and got me through the period. It was the saddest period of my life especially when the girl I got incarcerated for wrote me a dear John while locked up. The Holy Spirit is always there to heal the broken when needed the most, all you gotta do is kneel, pray and believe.

I had recently returned to my faith in Jesus & He was teaching me how to be totally devoted and faithful to Him with no other gods, idols or "stuff" in the mix - literally, not to mix him with other gods. not as religious as i used to be, but i do miss these songs and our family going to mass. got my guitar and singing from my maternal side of the family and i miss my mama as she passed in 2018th of march. she was the devout one and didn't let some cancer stop her from attending mass until her death bed moments. when i was a beginner in playing guitar i used to practice with these songs and my mama loved to sing along back when she was still younger and stronger. nowadays i just wanna see her but she wouldn't want me to kill myself or others (i have bad intentions of my own) and remembering her and what she would have wanted me to be is one if not the only thing that keeps me calm and collected despite my devious, cold and manipulative nature. i miss those days when she was still here. and songs like these always make me tear up. i do hope if i die atleast i could be with my mama. only person who never judged me despite my evil. love u ma. still trying to be a good boy and wishing i was dead instead of u.

Hey mate, as a Christian myself i know the trials and the hardships of life can take a toll on the human, especially the death of someone very close to our hearts. I Really pray that in time you heal from the passing of mum and that these beautiful memories will bring a sense of joy and peace and contentment of heart, as she would have wanted for you. I know you aren’t religious or anything but just want you to know that God loves you so much! He calls you out of religion and into relationship with Him today. All you gotta do is pray and give everything that you hold to Him, and He will give you what you need to sustain you each day to the end. I suffer a disease that I never know if I will wake up every time I sleep. I have been severely depressed over the last weeks/months. Going to bed has been like walking to a death sentence every night - then it is cruelly put on me again as I wake up to do it all over again. I have taken to putting off sleep as long as possible til I am too exhausted to stay up. Two nights I broke down and cried for hours - a grown man. This song helped me today - It's all about Him... not me. Thank you.

I read this scripture this morning. I couldnt sleep so i got up at 5am, read Acts24 then still had time so went to the Psalms and this came up Psalm 42v1. I have been reading the bible daily from Matthew for the last 4 months, praying for others according to 3John 1 v 2. May you be proseperous in all things, in good health and may your soul prosper and i pray that for you right now, in Jesus name. Amen
