Couple of things I’ve noticed in this episode: 1. Oglethorpe’s mouth is upside-down when he’s smiling. 2. Oglethorpe and Emory’s faces are erased when their backs are shown. 3. Carl’s arm clips on and off when he picks up the hubcap. Clear signs of the show’s animation budget at the time.

The budget definitely did not cover caring that much. I think the cheapness just makes it that much funnier, so it worked to their advantage.

So I’ve seen this theory that the Plutonians are modeled after weed plants with Emory being a sativa (tall and skinny, with a headband) and Oglethorpe being an indica (wide and shorter, with a drool band since he’s obese). I saw a side-by-side pic of them and some plants that I haven’t been able to find again and it’s been canon for me ever since.
