The koala doesn’t sound like a bad parent. The idea of being fed poop doesn’t seem at all appealing but it’s what they’re designed to eat and it provides them with what they need for survival which sounds like the parent doing something their kids won’t enjoy for their own good, like parents going to the hospital so their kids can get shots.

In the hamsters part, I had quite a few hamsters as pets for a few years, and that happened to me once. One of the first times the female hamsters had her little hamsters, I left the other hamsters together with her, and it did not go well. All of them went on a cannibalism spree, especially the father. Then I started separating the pregnant hamsters in their own space without interaction with any other hamsters while they are taking care of the little ones, and it always went smooth afterward. Never knew what happenned.

Great vid, but here's my counterargument when it comes to Koala mothers. There's a reason why they have to eat their mother's poop. So they can properly eat eucalyptus. Because, if you tore off a eucalyptus leaf, put it on a plate and show it the koala, it would stare at it and starve to death. Besides the whole eating poop thing from the start, Koalas are actually really good parents. Unlike most marsupials like kangaroos and quokkas, which use their young as bait for predators like dingoes, koala parents protect their joeys at all costs and fight to the death. Also, koalas are a lot more aggressive than we give them credit for. For example, two thieves tried to steal a koala from a zoo to trade for drug money, but the koala provided a difficult time for the thieves, to the point where they had to steal a crocodile because it was a much easier steal.
