If you’re nervous about giving a best man speech, a few good tips given to me was this - Write out 2 different speeches - If you’re going for humor make that the 1 to start with - Open with what you think will get the most laughs 1st - Use that open liner to read the room - If only a few laugh, try 1 more joke. If you get a similar reaction move on to your backup speech. - Your backup speech should literally just be a typical, generic thank you, congratulations & raise your glasses. - Try to make the ‘raise your glasses’ moment as sentimental, genuine & heartfelt as possible. So if your initial speech intended to be humorous doesn’t land, go for a more personal & meaningful approach. Make it a toast not a roast 🥂.

Definitely, Andy Kaufman-esque. He could probably eventually be good at Stand-Up if he tried for a year or two. If he had done this speech during a Stand-Up for a year, he’d work out the kinks.

In my opinion, it wasn't the worst best man speech. He definitely tried, and tried to be funny. The thing is, he has that dry, somewhat cynical (Daniel Tosh) type of personality which could either be a hit or a complete miss if you're not used to that type of comedy. Looks like the bride actually likes that style of comedy, you see at 2:22 she cracked up at the "I used to cry when I masturbated" bit. I honestly think what ruined the speech was the lady coming up, trying to take the microphone, and ripping the paper. She never allowed him to piece it all together. Who knows how he would have tied it all in. All in all, if you like comedians like Daniel Tosh, you probably thought this was somewhat funny. If you like "safer" comedy, then yeah, you might not like this speech at all. I actually think it was kind of funny.
