Full respect for calling out the Ali Hazelwood hype. I couldn’t agree more. When I read The Love Hypothesis back when it came out, I loved it. I thought it was so fun. Hot nerdy girls and hot nerdy guys kissing each other’s faces? Great. But at this point, I would’ve expected the quality of her writing to improve, and (IMO) it hasn’t. Her STEM books are cardboard cutouts of each other, as are the characters. You could mix and match the heroes and heroines and I don’t think anyone would notice the difference. The worst part is the cringe. And the cringe is strong. I can’t figure out if she’s completely ignorant to the fact that her heroes being the size of a tree and the heroines being Thumbelina give most readers the ick, or if she knows and is just trolling ‘the haters’ or something, because it feels like it gets more blatant in every book. She’s a one-hit wonder for me, and in actuality I don’t know that it would stand out against any of her other books on reread.

I have never finished and Ali Hazelwood book. I don't know if I could put her books on a most disappointing list because at this point, I expect to hate them.

I tried to read her first book and I couldn’t get into it, so I avoid her books

Totally agree with you on Bride. DNF it 30% in. 🤦🏻♀️I don’t get the hype of that book. 🤷🏻♀️🧡💚

Bride has been the only book, the absolute hands down singularity LONE BOOK where I fell asleep in the middle of an intimate scene. In my decades and decades of reading, it has been the only one where the romantic elements lulled me to SLEEP. I was BAFFLED when I woke up. I had gone into The Love Hypothesis with the worst expectations and ended up loving it. It felt cheeky and that while it was all so far fetched, it felt like you as a reader were a co-conspirator with the author. None of her other books captured that same feeling. They have been tired and dull. ❤❤❤

This is honestly exactly how I feel about Ali's books. I genuinely liked The Love Hypothesis! But the rest have felt like watered down repeats.

I almost DNF’d lady Macbeth a few times but I pushed through. I was very disappointed with it. Probably the worst book I read this year IMO. I’m afraid to read Bride now, I was just about to pick it up next 😂🙈

The way your mini Bride rant gave me life. I get it’s probably a me thing but I’m just frustrated with her writing and as a result I’m frustrated that she’s being blurbed on all the Kresley Cole rereleases. I’m hoping they get someone else for the next one. Seeing her giant quote right in the middle of AHLNO cover just makes me not want to buy it - it takes away from the beauty of the cover.

Omg, yes!! I waited on my library audiobook copy of Bride and when I finally got it, I was only able to get an hour and half in before I DNFd & turned it back in. 😂 I couldn’t stand the main character and I just gave up on it.

I believe there was way too much over-editing in Carissa Broadbent's latest book, and why it's tanked. Sometimes trad pub takes the essence of the author out of the story. It's so unfortunate. But this is only my opinion.💜

A Fate Inked In Blood was one of my most hyped book releases of the year and it was such a let down. I only got half way through. Probably will be selling my copy. That bums me out so much because I loved The Bridge Kingdom series. Bride was also an easy dnf for me 🧡

I am just waiting for someone to tell everyone that a book is garbage and if you like the book then you have garbage taste (or some other insult). I want some insults thrown around come on lets get some book related beef going on, I want booktube to be similar to East Coast v. West Coast hip hop in the 90's.

That was cathartic! The second book to Jess K Hardy’s Come As You Are was my biggest disappointment. I loved Come As You Are and DNFed Lips Like Sugar.
