I realized that most of these people that are doing these things are old and middle aged people that are still keeping their traditions alive. I hope they find successors. This is valuable history and alot of people's origins.

My Grandfather's Mother was Roma Italian. We celebrated Christmas this was until I was 14. There were 3, family tragedies before I turned 15, so there were no more Christmas celebrations like this anymore. All still gathered and did what we could but it was sadly never the same. This year will be as it began. Extremely thin, grim and slightly violent. A blame game. Yet no one is to blame. And all family will be missing. Oh how I wish I could have another Christmas like before I turned 14, and everything seemed so magical despite the hard work we all did to make our Christmas Celebration. My Grandmother's family had come from 50 Kilometres North of Yorkshire where the Castle still stands as a tourist favorite. So my Grandmother always insisted my Grandfather or Uncle would take us for sleigh rides with bells and Christmas songs, the carriage was beautiful. Black with golden metal framing, and red plush seats inside with lap rugs. The horses seemed to look proud. We even roasted marshmallows over the pit while awaiting the return of the other children. My Grandmother's wood cooking stove must have been the Cadillac of wood cook stoves for it's day. No one would ever purposely miss the Christmas celebration. A Christmas celebration that one never forgets. Thank you for this video and the beautiful memories. Blessings to you all. 😊👋🇨🇦🌌🌠🌟🌿🕊🌿🌟🌠🇨🇦🌌🌌🌌🌌

@@Jessica-to8um That sounds lovely. But there is o body left. The majority of my family are all gone as well as the majority of my friends lost to either Cancer or MVA's. The City was not the same as living out in the Country, and 5, years ago my husband and I moved here, a small town. We have not made a point of really trying to get to know people here. We live far from remaining relatives and really it just would not be the same. It's a lovely suggestion but unfortunately not one that can be done. However I do understand what you are suggesting. Thank you. Blessings.

@EmtronVenger I do not dwell on the past. I rarely even look back at it. Sometimes a video like this serves a beautiful memory of which I'd forgotten because there are not many of those. I do not live in the psst anymore. But stumbling across a good memory does not mean I need to make present good memories. I'm fine with how things are. Are you?

My father died December 7, 1993. It was a sudden death. We were all very close, and very sad. He loved life and loved Christmas dearly. We made that Christmas one to honor him and his memory. I even bought crackers to start a new tradition as we are American. My brother in law was born in England and was happy when I brought them out. It was a sad day, but we made it happier with our being together. Now my mother and a brother are gone and the family that is close together try to celebrate a few times a year. It does get hard, but sometimes you feel better when you have that connection. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas in 2020 everyone all over the world!😄🌍🌎🌏🎄🦃

There use to be a turkey farm about 40 miles from my home. We would pass it to go see relatives. I was amazed when the turkeys were hanging on the wooden frames. The house is still there but they no longer raise turkeys. That was in the 60 & 70's when I remember seeing this. Now many people have begun raising their own poultry like the old days! I'm glad.☺️

"The dolls' hair had to be inserted one clump at a time...and the materials for painting the faces were toxic." Doll customizers nowadays with their re-rooting needles and their respirators for safely spraying Mr Super Clear sealant: "Tell me about it." (To be fair though, I don't know of any modern doll-making materials that carry diseases. In that way people nowadays are definitely better off!)

I actually collect vinyl dolls with anime-style faces (the brands I started with are Smartdoll and Obitsu, but I'm looking into Volks as well) and the doll-making portion of this video made me chuckle because even with these dolls made of very modern materials we still remove the exact same portion of the head to put the eyes in. And the doll-customizing KZbinrs I follow, such as Dollightful, still root doll hair one clump at a time, although the hair is always clean and usually a synthetic fiber. The pigments used on the faces are a lot safer, but the most effective sealant one can use for a vinyl doll's face (to keep the features from smudging or coming off) is a spray that is toxic if inhaled.
@Poodleinacan2 жыл бұрын
@@dbseamz Do they look more on the realistic side or more cartoonish anime style? Wait.... I'm on the internet, I can just look it up lol I can see that Obitsu is more on the cartoonish style of things. The Volks doll, on the other hand, is more of what I was imaguning. More realistic style, but with anime features.
@dbseamz2 жыл бұрын
@@Poodleinacan yep! And Smartdoll has both: dolls with anime style faces and dolls called “semi real” with more realistic faces. Both Obitsu and Volks sell bodies and heads separately, and you can put Volks heads on Obitsu bodies, which is what I’m going to do because I don’t like Obitsu heads either.
