I think this "collection" was a storage unit find, perhaps to a store that went out of business due to covid...I think that white substance might have been mildew or mold....I had stuff in non-climate control storage do that before....Poor storage can do odd things to packaging...The guy probably bought a unit and sold you the pops without thinking you would be as aware of their condition due to the quantity of pops.

If they want it back, the cost of shipping back plus $50 waste of my time fee. I wouldn't have paid them anything for that collection, complete junk after your time put in to clean them up they won't be worth a dime in profit. That had to have been the good powder for someone to try to pull this scam. I'd recommend doing what places like magic card dealers do who buy collections online in the future... Offer stands unless product misrepresented, I reserve the right to reduce the offered value up to XX% after in-person evaluation. If you are unhappy with the re-evaluation price you can pay to have all pops returned.

UPS Stores work a little bit different then when you get them delivered to your door. He couldn't refuse, because the UPS Store automatically accepts them for him. Imagine the UPS store having to call every single person up to ask if they actually wanted the package. Nothing would get done.

Wow... I sat here for a solid 5 minutes after reading the update processing what I just watched, and what I would do in that situation. As a reseller myself, I couldn't imagine having someone defraud me in that way. Kudos to you, Clint for taking the high road, because in all actuality you very well could have returned those Pops to him COD, and let him figure it out for himself. Truth be told he probably never had the higher valued Pops, and I can't help but wonder if the Pops he did send were stolen from someone or somewhere, and that's why #1 it took him so long to reach back out, and #2 why he just shipped them out without a deal in place, just to get them out of his possession. Of course there's no way of knowing that, but with the situation as it is, I can't help but think the worst. At least the kids that get them will love them, and you can write it off on your taxes. What a nightmare though. I'm sure it has left you gun shy when it comes to buying collections from strangers, and I certainly don't blame you. eBay is fishy. Recently,I asked a guy about an Iron Maiden 45 signed by Paul Dianno,it was being bid on and was,at that point,like 70$ before shipping, 'course) I asked him if he'd take 100 bucks and I came back two days later it was like "SOLD!" I then received eBay notifications asking where the 122$ was when all I did was ask if he'd accept 100 flat,no shipping none of that stuff,and it was only an inquiry. I don't know if it's just me,but I didn't think I was bound because,in my view, it wasn't a sealed deal at that point.

I have had this experience before. Pops being sent before a deal has been made or pops arriving damaged. Most likely it was a kid or teenager. What I would do is just adjust my offer price based on the damage. You will have to pay 10-30% of ppg price depending on the damage and sell them for 10-50% less then ppg, they will sell.

This person must have been on the young side because when I was younger and first started to get into funkos I did not care much for the boxes and did not even know collecting them was a thing, I wish I was more careful back then, mine are not horrible and have little rips here and there but now I keep most of mine in protectors now since they have gone up in price

Everything about how you described that guy was super sketchy either they were a really bad scammer or a super young kid that didn't understand anything they were doing and just wanted to get noticed by a famous KZbinr, its horrible that you were put in a awful situation like this to do something out of your control.
