WORST Guitar Pedal OR BEST Bass Pedal? (Boss PW-2 Power Driver)

It may be gold... but is it good? The BOSS PW-2 was mass produced in 1996 but took over a decade to sell. I saw it in a catalogue in 2001, went to try one out in a guitar shop in 2007 and bought one second hand in 2016, looking like it it had barely left the box!

To this day, the only pedal I've ever blown an amp up with. Rip Peavey Classic 50. However, the PW-2 lives on.

I bought the Behringer version of the Pw2 because of this video, and this video is exactly right. Sounds awesome for bass. It can sound good on guitar if used like an HM 2, that is boosting an already distorted amp or preamp.

I've had this pedal since the late 90s, I think I paid $50 for it brand new. Always loved the sound of it.

Sounds like music to MY ears! It‘s not supposed to be a high end, high gain tube amp sound. But for sounds you don‘t get to hear every day… the unfortunate aspect about it is that it costs collector‘s prices where I live. And there are just a lot of great pedals at the same price I would snag first. But at a realistic 50 buckaroonies? Yes, sir!

I love how fuzzy and blown out it sounds. Would be nice to use for solos. Also, I love silly descriptions of knob functions, kinda reminds me of what metasonix did when they made pedals.

I got one recently to try it out, I play on a Telecaster with single coils, it's basically a big muff pi as far as the sound is concerned for me but maybe with a little less warmth and the mid scoop seems more pronounced. It does however clean better when lowering the volume of the guitar than the big muff does in my experience.
