@princess_maya_ same gas station every night before work. Always bought 3 tickets in order. Seemed like that's the best return I got. The odds according to the back of the ticket were 1 in 3. And Usually I'd win $5-$15 nightly. Basically paid enough for me to break even or lose maybe $10/week.

I LOVE playing scratch off tickets because of how exciting it is to see if you are going to win big, plus it had been a family tradition to always get scratch off tickets in our stockings at Christmas so I grew up with it. :) Definitely have to be careful with how much you spend though! We play but just for fun and never over your budget. The most I have ever won on 1 ticket is $50 but I haven't played more than a $20 ticket so maybe that is why. I had a really fun time watching you guys play though! :)

Just for next time.... 1. You can't win less the value of the card. So I'm right at where Brit says she won $10 on a $20 card, which means she missed at least another $10 win on the card.... 2. If you really want to go for speed or just check if the amount you won is right, scratch the entire card and the letters around the sides will spell the amount you won in so only a few abbreviated letters. 3 Brit is amazing, and I love how she does little chicken scratching and you go whole hog with the scratcher doing chunky lines like you were Johnny Depp in Blow.. 4. It is like a casino, some times you hit and others you miss, but in the end the house always wins... Otherwise they wouldn't exist.... Oh yeah and 5. I forgot to mention that when you hit numbers that are repeatedly 1 number off of a winner, then it is a loser %99 of the time. But again you can always just scratch the sides to see the letters and know if and what you won without even scratching the game section... P.s. $829 is not possible, she already missed at least $10 you didn't count and you didn't buy $1 $2 cards so $829 is most likely at minimum $840, still a loss but I would def have them all scanned... Do the cashier a favor and scratch the barcode at the bottom of all the card, they need the hidden barcode to scan and it takes time at the register holding thing up while they scratch each barcode... Just saying

I bought some months ago. I only spent like $40. I scratched them and won like $15. I put them on the fridge and forgot about them. I was cleaning the fridge out one day and was like “oh yea $15”. It’s like finding money in your winter jacket the next season. So I thought “oh I’m going to lunch”. Took them and had them scanned and none of them were winners. Must have read them all wrong. In my defense this was only like the second time I bought scratchers. I’m with Roman that they are not worth the stress. But I could see this being a fun game if you start drinking. I've scratched thousands of tickets and my highest win has been $600. Definitely not worth it for most people but I make ad revenue on the videos so I get paid to play. Most people play for the hope of hitting big. I do it because it's fun, the adrenaline rush is awesome, the entertainment and I technically never lose because of the ad revenue.

Over lottery tickets? Wow, that's about as extreme as it gets for scratchers. It's not like there was any kind of physical dependency to them. It was just straight up gambling addiction or were there substances involved? I'm not judging but it sounds like there could have been substances involved if it got that bad. I've met quite a few gambling addicts. About half of them didn't drink or do drugs but the other half were hiding drinking or drug problems behind their gambling addiction. It's really sad to see a gambling addict because they can't stop until they've lost it all. Winning just delays the inevitable. There was a guy who won a million dollars on one ticket and he would go around handing out $10 and higher tickets to while continuing to spend hundred of dollars per week on them. He didn't play them much at all before he hit the mill. That win turned him into an all out addict looking for the next big win. He'd always say no matter how much he spends or gives away, he's still in the profit. The lotto even sponsored him and gave him all kinds of shirts, hats, etc, to give away with the tickets that he would buy for other people. Then, he went bankrupt just 2 years later. Lost everything. Lost his very profitable business that he owned and every single car along with his home. He had a huge tax bill he couldn't pay because he'd spend every penny of his cash on tickets. The business would bring profit in. He'd go on a buying spree still giving tickets away hiding how badly in debt he was in. He started losing employees cuz he was missing payroll and the business stopped being profitable. He hid it all the way til the end and even gave away some of his very last tickets he bought. It was sad. If you look up how many people have gone bankrupt after winning over a million dollars in the lottery, it's actually pretty staggering. It's just as mind-blowing as the amount of millionaire athletes who spent themselves into debt and broke. Allen Iverson is a really sad story. He would take a posse of at least 40 people everywhere he went always paying for it. Thankfully, his shoe sponsor had put a trust in part of his deal that paid him out a couple million when he hits a certain age but he was dead broke for a while. I wouldn't doubt that he started taking loans out against that trust money too. They were probably really high interest loans too, but they were guaranteed to get paid back as soon as his trust age came or comes. I'm not sure when he's supposed to get the trust. Hopefully he plays it smarter with the rest of his money from his trust.
