There's no buildup, instead the sudden fast-paced fear being forced into you rapidly IS the tension, with the demonic creature itself ticking all the right boxes (terrifying design amplified by the drawing style, capability to fly through the house and tear shit apart at a million miles per hour, distorted human screech and deafening sounds in general).

The "I heard it too" animation was and still is the scariest animation I've ever watched, just simply because that's a somehow realistic horror, and for anyone who wants to see his original reaction to this animation, its in the SSS with salad fingers, you'll know when you see the thumbnail.
