@dmas77499 жыл бұрын
Magnum Cannon Once you get the hang of it, it's not so bad really. I don't think Heat Man's stage belongs on a worst levels ever. They even give you time to learn the patterns before doing it over the lava. Here though, you need a really sharp intuition if you want to survive unless you've played it or watched someone else.

Don Cassedy Metal Man's easy. Sure, he gave me a bit of a hard time on my first run, but if you know how to dodge his blades it's easy. And yeah. Quick Man is a complete spaz.

The problem with Heat Man's stage is that while it does let you get the hang of the Yoku Blocks' timing before putting an instant death obstacle below you, it doesn't give you any warning that the timing will suddenly change once you're above the lava, and to me that's bad design. How is a first time player supposed to know that?

Extra Credits fan here with a relevant video: in their video about the difference between difficult and what they call “punishing” games (referencing complaints about games being easier these days, because the guys who made old games worked in quarter-munching arcade games), one guy in the comments basically said that for a difficult game to be enjoyable, when you screw up it has to be because of you and something you can improve on, not because of the game screwing you over. And this is a perfect example of the game screwing you over by throwing at you instant-death obstacles you can’t possibly know how to react to beforehand.

Yep, 3 is the best in my opinion too! :D It introduced Protoman (aka Blues), had *great* music and revisiting levels to fight the Doc Robot! It even brought back Copy Robot and the Yellow Devil as callbacks to Megaman 1. My only problems is that Gamma seems like it could've been a better final boss. (At least a multiphase boss) On the other hand, I feel like Gamma's boss fight is like Quint's: not much is clearly defined, so in fan works it can be expanded upon *a lot* more than other things (like how certain weapons can be used) A great example of a Megaman 3 fanfic is Megaman 3: Return of the Forsaken, written by Magus523. The plot makes *a lot* more sense (locations of the Energy Elements are on Earth instead of f**king meteors) and it explains upon a few more things (like why Gamma's weakness is Top Spin). It's good enough to the point where I consider it the canon events of Megaman 3 Give it a good read, it's a great piece of work!

+Kilus Kitsune I don't see why people praise Metal Blade so much. The game is already piss easy and the only thing the metal blade does is let you shoot in 8 directions. But guess what? So does Pharaoh Shot! Seriously, why does no one ever mention how not only can you charge it but it also lets you shoot in 8 directions. Besides, most enemies in that game are straight in front of you anyways. I almost never used it and the game still was easy.
@ParasocialCatgirl7 жыл бұрын
However, the metal blade has a fuck-tonne of ammo (with 112 uses before running out of ammo). Pharaoh Shot, on the other hand, has much less ammo (only able to use 28 uncharged or 14 charged shots). This means that you can spam the metal blades, but not the pharaoh shot. As well as this, the metal blades are strong against 4 of the bosses in MM2 (Metal Man, Bubble Man, Wood Man and Flash Man), whilst the Pharaoh Shot is only strong against Ring Man and the Wily Capsule. tl;dr metal blades are more spammable than and are strong against more bosses than the pharaoh shot.

I agree with MM 2 being overrated. AMong other things, I can't stand Megaman's slippery movement, which they finally fixed on the third one. That said, I kinda understand why people like it so much, going from MM 1 to MM 2, it's a whole lot better, they polished everything.... although it can still be cheap at times. Like the final boss only being weak to ONE sub weapon, and having no way to recharge it if you die and used it too much -_-
@crappycondor80228 жыл бұрын
+Ignacio Puppo Personally, i think they only fixed one thing: Mega Man's knockback. For some reason, I feel like the only person who thinks Mega Man 1 is one of the best classic Mega Man games. I think either 4 or 5 is my favorite, but 1 is a close second. I think 2 is '2' easy (see what i did there?) and 3 had lame boss weapons and levels that felt way too long (note that the only NES Mega Man games i haven't beaten are 6 and 3. 6 because i haven't played 6 yet and 3 because i didn't like it enough to continue). Those are just my thoughts. Disregard anything i say however because i have only played the 3DS virtual console versions. Sorry for the essay.

Mm1 isn’t my favourite classic mega man game but I enjoyed it.A lot more than mega man 2. While I don’t struggle much with the yellow devil now, having to restart the stage because you didn’t learn his pattern well enough can get tedious. The yellow devil isn’t by any means a well designed fight, but at least it was fun. When mega man 2 presents you with trial and error level design, which is far too often, I don’t experience any of that fun I did when fighting the yellow devil. In conclusion, mega man 2 is my least favourite of the classic series by a long shot, with my favourites being 3,6,7 and 10.

0:25 Not to offend anyone, but I agree with that statement. Stages like Quick Man (without using Time Stopper) and Heat Man (those stupid Yoku blocks) ruins the game for me. Battling Wood Man was a pain too, he was overpowered, and the raining leaves are impossible to dodge with the shield accompanying them. Plus he gives you less room as the battle progresses. MM7 is definitely my favorite of the Classic series. The bosses were neater, and the damage levels were balanced.

Honestly, I wouldn't call it my least favorites in the series, but it's up there. Poor design choices, some horrible level design at times, and very unbalanced weaponry. Ironically though, Quick Man's stage and fight aren't any of those things to me. It's actually my favorite stage in the game, and he's by far my favorite of the Robot Masters in the game (before anyone says anything, I don't like Metal Man). I liked the adrenaline rush in the stage. Just too bad that even without the Flash Stopper, it's so freaking easy when you memorize the stage. Also, you do realize that you can manipulate the AI of the Sniper Joes in the end right? If you jump before they land, they're more likely to almost never shoot you. Quick Man himself though is in my opinion the hardest of the 8 Robot Masters, but in a fun way. I wouldn't exactly call his action a "pattern" so to speak. I like reaction fights as long as there aren't too many of them. So I like the stage on a normal run. In a No Damage, Buster Only Run? *shudders* It's a complete nightmare. I didn't record myself since it was for fun and experience, but I remember it took over 900 attempts.

Which makes me wonder what version was he playing. He was probably playing on PAL, where the game is way more unforgiving. Quickman tbh wasn't really a big problem to me, just the lasers until I defeated flash man (who is a joke honestly). With that said, the level is awful if you don't plan beforehand, and megaman 2 in general can be really frustrating in that sense, but boy it feels great when beating it. Heat man on the other hand is a terrible stage near the end (fast faller + unpredictable platforms = disaster), and worst part is that the boss is a joke.

@IruleIjust10 жыл бұрын
My only real complaint about Mega Man 2 is how unbalanced the weapons are. That crash bombs take way too much energy to use. They're the fastest and most effective weapon to use against Quick Man and the ONLY weapon that works on the dreaded Wily Stage 4 boss, the BooBeam Trap, in both cases you have only just enough energy to take down either boss and you absolutely must not miss (it's possible to hit Quick Man twice per shot by hitting a wall, but it takes timing, luck, and you'll probably get hit in the process, BooBeam however, you must be precise and even go for taking out multiple sections in one shot even). If they would have only cost 2 instead of 4, this game could have been much more balanced. Oh yes, and if beating the game quickly is on your agenda, you'll soon realize that Metal Blades are overrated (they stop your momentum when you use them), soon you'll be finding out how good Quick Boomerang, Leaf Shield, and Air Shooter really are (and in a lot of cases, Crash Bombs are useful too). In fact, I pick up all of those weapons before even going to Metal Man's stage in my playthrough.
@fatterplatter30296 жыл бұрын
I personally hate Leaf Shield: It's a misnomer; it won't protect you from any projectiles. You could consider this a nitpick, but wouldn't it be so much better if it blocked bullets? Even if it did block projectiles, it'd still be bad. You have to stay still in order to use this weapon, otherwise it will fly off in the direction you're facing. Why does this terrible design choice exist? You could say that it's a projectile weapon, but... This weapon does fuck all in terms of damaging enemies. Only a handful of foes die from the Leaf Shield, and the only ones I use it against are Air Man and Egg Pipis. Due to the light damage and the shield flying off your body, the Leaf Shield is very situational. I wouldn't call it varied or useful at all.
@fatterplatter30296 жыл бұрын
@@IsMonic Just because a comment was three years ago doesn't mean we can't talk about it. Why use the Leaf Shield when you can just use Metal Blades? In a scenario where an enemy is homing in on you or about to pounce on you, the Leaf Shield will force you stop in your tracks, wait for the enemy to jump at you, and then wait for it to die (assuming the enemy actually *does* die and doesn't just pierce through the Leaf Shield and hurt you). Doesn't that interrupt the gameplay quite a bit? The Metal Blades don't force you to stop as much, and are spammable, and kill most things, and preserve more energy, and are less situational than the Leaf Shield. I guess that's my main issue with Mega Man 2: the weapons are unbalanced as Hell, the Metal Blade and Quick Boomerangs are the only things I would consider using (unless of course, I'm forced to use a weapon I would otherwise not use, such as the Crash Bombs in the Boo Beam Trap room, or the Bubble Lead against Alien.)
@IruleIjust2 жыл бұрын
@@megaedge2762 I stand by this statement. I'm not saying they're not good. I'm saying the other weapons in 2 deserve more credit than they receive. And while you may not beat the game as quickly without the blades, they're certainly not required. I invite you to check out some of the playthroughs on my channel. I'm able to get through them rather quickly, and you'll be surprised at how seldom I switch to this weapon.
@IruleIjust2 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure I was really hung up on the Genesis version when I made this statement all these years ago. The lead shield got a major buff in that version. I still like using the leaf shield to get through the drill section in Wily Tower. The blades are really bad in any version that isn't the original NES.

I think that MM2 is one of the best from the NES series. But, you've got that right: There's lot of trial and error. And that, for new players, sucks big time. I remember when I was a kid and the Quick Man level seemed like an impossible feat I'd never be able to beat. First time I got to the boss room I was so happy! ... The next thing I remember after that are 3 quick boomerangs flying towards me and making me explode, taking out my last life. Also in some Wily stages, if you don't use correctly some of your weapons and items, you can have a very, VERY hard time trying to get through the levels, specially with the 4th level boss: The wall turrets. They can only be killed by Crash Bombs and nothing more than Crash Bombs. And you have to use each one of 'em correctly, because if you don't and you run out of bombs, you WILL have to forcibly lose and farm energy again. And also, you don't start exactly near the boss room. You have to go through some annoying parts again... and good luck with the Sniper Joes and their damn jumpy machines, farming from them is like trying to chew water. D: With all the feels and pain back under the bed, just have to say: Great review, as always!

SebaOutbreak It's one of my least favorite so far. That said, I would play it again. The only thing that bothers me about this game is the orb boss you need the crash bomber to defeat, and even then it's not enough to put me off.

As far as I can tell, the metal blade does stun Quick Man for a while ( 6:13 )

@Bar-Kun10 жыл бұрын
well, for quickman you CAN use metalblades since metal blades stop him up for a secound you can rapidly swich weapons and damage him easly air shooter also works against quickman, like you showed also atomic fire and crash bomber as for the lazer spam section, like you said it's hard at first but it's not imposible, the thing you need to do is stick to the walls when you fall also the yoku blocks from heatman's stage are FAR more cheap
@whatastandupguy30509 жыл бұрын
The yoku blocks at Heat man's stage are no more cheap than Quick man's force beams, as they are simply another pattern you need to memorize.

So this is the reason Quickman.Exe is so annoying, his classic counterpart and his stage are the creations of satan
@bloodtachin11 жыл бұрын
I always liked quickmans stage but looking back it was kind of a beginners trap and was really more about memorization than reflexes which is a bit cheap but still I never had a problem with it myself.

"Most massive"? You must be kidding. Sure, it has two more levels. What else? Tweaked physics? Like what? The dissapearing blocks in Heat Man's that already were in Mega Man 1? The trolleys from Wily stage 4 that already were in Guts Man's stage? The sliding on ice mechanic in Flash Man's that Ice Man already had? You could argue that items 1-3 were new but they let you did nothing that Magnet Beam did prior. It gave us the Energy Tanks - though of little use considering they were gone after you got a game over. *Worse!* 1 let you revisit stages - 2 did not! Music is a matter of taste. Yeah, I really dig 2's soundtrack. Very memorable. But all were good, and 6's OST is stuff of _legends_. That's not an update, either way. All the games are good, but 2 is by no means the best and I really wish people would stop blowing it up as if Capcom shouldn't have even bothered to go on after 1988. EDIT: Tell me how you could beat Wily without Bubble Lead in 2 and how you could not beat Wily in 1 with the buster.

Only stage i had to actually be sirius (yes I just made that joke) because with metal blade enemies are no problem xD Edit: I ran out of ammo for metal blade when I played this, so I didn't know he was immune to metal blade

This is my favorite stage in MM2, though I can't blame you for hating it. I think if the checkpoints were laid out better, then the second laser challenge would be much less annoying to learn. The stage is also really short, so that's a plus, right? I find heat man's main doku block challenge in his stage a bit more annoying, mostly because if the doku blocks don't load in correctly then the pattern can become really annoying to deal with (I know item 2 eliminates that problem, but after beating a game 100 times, you kind of want to challenge it in different ways). It is fun when they do appear in a less erratic pattern, though. Oh and, I also agree that MM2 is quite overrated, but people have their tastes. I can't really talk since my favorite MM is 8.

Could you maybe do some kind of video on Einhander? It's a on rails shooter made by Square. They were tired of ruling the RPG genre, so they tried a shooter game and it worked really well for a first attempt. Some sort of a video on it would be nice.

At least Item-2 can help you get over that with no problem; and even then it's easier to memorise the block pattern.

Ah, quickmam. The original "gut gud" if they had the sliding mechanic in 2 I'd be perfectly fine. But nope, instead you need to have sharp reflexes and 20 lives (or cheat with save states but you know) just to get to quick man
@gren45866 жыл бұрын
Sharp reflexes, yeah. But 20 lives? Stop contradicting yourself.

I think the Flash Man's weapon was made to cruise thru the level more than using it aains Quick Man, as the dude is pretty much easy to defeat with your default weapon
@robertlauncher11 жыл бұрын
Elecman's stage is fairly easy, the guy himself is a joke if you have Cutman's ability. Because Iceman's weakness is Elecman's ability, you'll probably have the magnet beam by Iceman's stage, making it a joke. Fireman I'll give you, but it's only a problem at the boss rush. The ziplines are at the very start, making it less frustrating when you get a game over. There are times when Gutsman's weapon is required to proceed. The red guys can be frozen with Iceman's weapon, and lastly, magnet beam.

Then again, If you get lucky with the Crash bomb, You can nail him. And that could also be a good time to charge up atomic fire.

I like 2 for its soundtrack. Every song is gold. However I've only beaten it once, because the cheap shit just weighs it down. All the instant death traps in pretty much every stage, that fuckin wall boss, the final one being weak to one weapons etc. So much of this game is just obtuse for the inexperienced player

Heat and quick, just a couple of pricks! And Crashman too God i hate all their stages
@robertlauncher11 жыл бұрын
That's their problem. If a game gives you the chance to make things easier, it's your fault if you don't take it. Unlike 2 and 3, 1 does that. You always have to fight the crash bomber turret the same way, and there's no alternate way to cross the Rush Jet pit. 1 gives you simple solutions to potentially bad situations.

i always did the same in this satge, pactice timingto dodge the alsers and use the flash stoper to defeat quickman. But the worst boss battle in this game is Crash man when you don't hace the power up from air man. I swear i was suffering for the difficulty of crashman without air shooter.
