My 1st MG was the Unicorn Banshee, with that massive railgun thing and crab claw. I recently got a unicorn full armor ver ka, but im not seeing any obvious differences in the construction. (Still have to start building it, im one of those guys who likes to go through the instructions beforehand) I did notice a new base adaptor to fit under the gunrack thing at the backpack. @@ryu________ Yeah, that full armor unicorn is a master grade as well. It was pretty predictable with all the gear on its back, that it would have trouble standing up unsupported, but that actionbase adapter that slots inbetween the torso and backpack fits really tight. It secures the model at the perfect spot. Pretty much right in its center of gravity. That makes the big guy on an action base super fun to pose. No need to worry about balancing. I love that kit. Fitting the actionbase adapter in the back of the model was quite fiddly though, but once it snapped into place, it is absolutely not going anywhere. Follow the instructions there very carefully. It's kinda forcing a bracket in 2 spots at once, which also need to be connected together at the same time.

Doing the waterslide decals took AGES and it is always threatening to fall apart when you pose it. But boy, when you find the pose you want and get it situated, it looks NICE. It also has incredible color separation. Unless you're doing custom colors, I don't think there's any need to paint it. As a dedicated lover of the Sentinel Gundam and all of its ridiculous variants, I love the fact that the Deep Striker does nothing. People in the past would buy resin kits of the Deep Striker for big bucks. Those don't transform or pose. But people still shelled out for them because they were awesome! @RKan33 жыл бұрын
One of the nice parts of the hobby is that there aren't many strict rules on what qualifies a beginner or advanced builder. It mostly just boils down to one's own comfort level or confidence when building kits and general experience with the tools and techniques. You would probably be considered an intermediate level builder when you feel comfortable with building more complex kits like Ver Ka's and have experience with cleaning and sanding parts. An advanced builder would likely be someone who's comfortable with further cusomizing their models through painting, seam line removal, and modifying parts. The qualifications tend to change depending on who you're asking so don't worry too much about labels, just focus on having a good time and always feel free to experiment or move outside your comfort zone. Every model is a new learning experience to try something different, regardless of how it turns out.

I have the Avalanche Exia. Which is just the standard MG Exia with extra parts. The Exia is all around pretty good, I like it and it looks great all built up. The only complaints I would have are that the front skirts are a lil annoying. They have 2 points of articulation to get them out of the way so the leg can go all the way up, but they can be finnicky. The main sword on mine snapped from the handle. I wasn't being gentle with it, but just be aware of that part possibly breaking. The GN cables can get in the way of articulation, especially the side to side on the chest, so I trimmed it slightly so it can move more. I used the eye stickers and they look ok, but they lack depth. Otherwise everything's pretty cool! The GN condensers are awesome in person. OH. THE MOST ANNOYING THING. The GN Drive and how it slots into the chest. I don't have LEDs in mine yet so they're hollow, and it disconnects every now and then when I try to pose it. It's definitely not perfect, but I also don't understand the hate it gets sometimes, it has fairly good articulation and it looks great. I do hope they make a new one with the new frames, but it still looks good amongst the Dynames and Kyrios.

I am building ver ka assault buster MG as my second build. Since MG unicorn went well, I wanted to challenge myself. One thing i dont like is in the manual you dont get the info of the tray/slab numbers and you just rummage through all the trays rather than separate them and build one piece.

Funny thing, Unicorn Full Armor ver ka is my 1st MG, building it wasn't tough, it was the massive decals that can be tough, stuck some crooked, some upside down but all in all it was fun and a good experience, no regret. Banshee Ver ka is the next one am gonna build 😂

hahaha one of the first kits I first got was the FA Unicorn, it wasn't too bad. I did expect it to be a brick though and I was very burnt out the Unicorn putting decals on everything, dry transfers especially. I'm also surprised transforming kits haven't made the list, one of my first MG's was the zeta plus c1 and its wait section was horrible. Could barely stand (*shudder*).

MG Sinanju; It’s a beautiful kit, especially the titanium finish version, but some modeling skills are required; Particularly the waist peg that needs to be sanded down a bit so it doesn’t break when you try to twist the torso for poses.

As a new person to gunpla (I've done 7 total), I find MG can vary wildly but I love doing them. I have finished in order Deathsythe Hell, Full Armored Unicorn ver.ka, and just finished painting and assembly on Strike Freedom MGEX (need to do panel lines and decals). I have really enjoyed building/painting them but I confuse people when they talk about the anime. They call back to the anime and I go um cool. I build them cuz they look badass not because I like the anime.

Another reason not to get The Gouf Custom is the ankle joint. It has no rear stableizing joint. It pivots foward too much making it look like a Smooth Criminal. Also they made the Gatling Gun way too heavy. The Gatling also can not purge from the shield like in the OVA. So you can't just use the shield by itself.

My first MG was back in 2021, I’ve only built 2 other Gunpla before hand (HG burning Gundam and Entry grade RX-78-2), found an F91 MG Gundam at a store and had to get it, not knowing it was from 2006 and hadn’t been opened in about 15 years 😅 great kit tho, surprisingly I was able to put it together in 2 days!

I do think the NEW reprints of the old MG Unicorn ver Ka is fine cos if u have studied the runners of the newer unicorn type MGs (Specifically the Phenex and the Banshee), the leg armour runner has been modified (The runner's name coincides with the exact same one as the old MG Unicorn ver Ka), which means the entire metal mold that bandai uses for the leg armour runner have been modified. The first few prints of the OVA/HD ver of the Unicorn included the old MG Unicorn ver Ka's runner too, but NEW reprints of it uses the modified metal mold of the original MG Unicorn ver Ka.

Forgot to mention the Gouf Custom's ankles. It's missing hinges for the back ankles & can lean foward to a rediculous degree. I personally like the GM Type C. Even bought 5 of them, good for a troop unit build but just lacks great articulation...but at $25.00 for one, it's a great deal

These all seem pretty fair/straightforward to me! Mostly things that have just not aged well, have much superior versions available, etc. and I think that’s all super valid. I think my first MG was the RX-79 Ground Type and I maintain that it’s held up incredibly well for a 21 year old kit.

The Alex 1.0 was the first master grade I built, third kit overall. It was right after the 2.0 was released and I made the mistake of listening to the shop owner's offer to sell it to me at a discount instead of getting the 2.0. Worst kit I've ever touched, and it put me off of master grades for over two years afterwards.

Full disclosure: I have not built the MG Deep Striker, nor do I plan to. That said, I do agree with its inclusion on this list. From everything I’ve seen about it, I’d say it’s the kind of kit a builder (not just a beginner) would like a lot more if they received it as a gift or a contest prize. Yeah, it doesn’t do much, but it’s big and imposing and will make a great centerpiece for your collection. The main issue with it is the price. For that money, you could buy a Perfect Grade or 2-3 Master Grades and get a lot more bang for your buck. Citrus compared it to the PG Zeta: Both are very expensive and involved builds with aging technology that end up as bricks in the end. But the PG Zeta is feature complete with opening hatches, the transformation, and tons of tiny details, whereas the MG Deep Striker is comparatively featureless. Again, they’re both bricks, so while you may not play around with the features of the PG Zeta, you at least get them where you don’t get them at all with the Deep Striker.

I have to disagree about the older versions of the Zeta and especially the ZZ and Variants. The ZZ Master Grade really holds up. It's almost as articulated as the Ver. Ka, the joints are solid, and the Full Armor version gives you the Enhanced ZZ without having to track down the P-Bandai version. They're also both way less expensive than the Ver. Ka, and in my opinion they look far better proportionally. They really capture the beefiness of the ZZ, with the super wide torso and chunky legs. The Ver. Ka is a fantastic kit, but it's not the ZZ I remember from the show.

White FAZZ ver KA is prototype version of the real Double Zeta Gundam(and its Full Armor version) without the gimmick of transformable and core fighter. 3 white FAZZ created and being used as Special Force unit on Gundam Sentinel novel which set pararel with ZZ Gundam. Unfortunately these 3 meet its demise because lack off close combat armaments.

I really appreciate that you prefaced with basically saying there's no such thing as a bad kit - it depends on how much work you are willing to put in and what your expectations are. But. I would have included the MG Guntank because the treads are a nightmare to assemble and I thank Bandai every night before bed that they included spare links for the treads.

I'd say that anybody competent enough to build a HG could make the jump to MG with no problem. All the skills you need for a MG are the same, they're just a bit bigger with more parts. I haven't bult any MGs that seemed particularly more complex than any other (other than Ver.Ka), but as for a good starter set, I would suggest the Jegan. Very solid and straightforward design. No troublesome fiddly bits. Good colour seperation, you can build it straight out of the box without paint. Though mine is fully painted and (along with my Geara Doga) is one of the best in my collection.

The Gouf Custom... man I wish they would drop a 2.0 of that. I mean they already have the regular Gouf 2.0 out, just... don't make it a p-bandai. I actually have an alternate color version of the mg GC. I think it's from either a cgi ova or a game? Memory is a bit fuzzy. The torso & skirt armor is a much lighter shade of blue. Speaking of 2.0s, could we get a freaking Kampfer 2.0 already? My original is cool and all, but it really needs a new version. And this video also reminded me that I have a Deep Striker sitting in a storage room. I didn't think the purchase through because I have nowhere to put something that big.
