WORST MINING ACCIDENTS in Colorado | Monarch No2 Mine Explosion

Mine Disaster: January 20, 1936, a blast believed to have been caused when a spark ignited coal dust, killed eight men working the night shift in the Monarch Mine No. 2. The mine’s opening is believed to be just south of highway 36 in Colorado. Where there are several apartment buildings, a park and ride, and nature trails now exist. That’s so sad, poor fellows and especially the one man they didn’t find, very sad. I know thousands died in mining accidents back then, I did a video of one fellow who survived WW2 just to be crushed to death between two coal cars a few years later. Sad.

Mining was such a hard and dangerous life with very little compensation for the hazards. What a great memorial/ gravesite. So many men buried alive during those days.
