I think that you could clean the VCR heads by opening the VCR top and use 91% isopropyl alcohol and print paper. You need to put the 91% isopropyl into the print paper and put the print paper into the heads and spin in gently. It works ways better than using a head cleaning cassette.

I have three Scotch VHS head cleaning tapes. The oldest one was from the 1980’s, the second one is from 1995 which is the “Head Cleaner Plus” with 1993 copyright, and the last one from around 2004 with the 1996 or 1997 copyright on the screen with “Scotch in Space” on there.

I do have my Memorex Head Cleaning VHS tape with solution that came with isopropyl alcohol. I did put in a few drops to run the tape to get it clean to make the picture. After cleaning it. I tested with one of three Scotch VHS head cleaning tapes to get it running for testing it. It repeated a few times.
