"Letter - from the Lost Days" always gets me. It's just beautiful. Also, honorable mention, I always rock out to "You're Not Here" When I worked at a local occult book shop I would put on the SH2 and 3 sound tracks all the time, got to listen to those songs a lot. It was also really fun when some folks would come in, be looking around the store and then one of them would go "wait, I know this song"

Just a note on the MGS HD collection, the only thing BluePoint reverse engineered from retail discs are assets, source code wouldn’t have been reversed. There are some issues with it that you won’t particularly notice as a casual player, notably transparency issues, music sequencing issues, and the Snake Eater intro music mistiming. ZoE HD had some performance issues that High Voltage Software was not able to work out, and so HexaDrive worked on the v2 patch (but only for the PS3, and only for ZoE2).

Shot in the dark here, but are you a fan of Twin Perfect’s video on the HD Collection back in 2012-2013? There’s been a handful of things you’ve said that were either very similar, or identical to some of the things they’ve said. Just something I thought was interesting. Love the playthroughs!

I definitely watched their videos more than once back when they were first being posted, and I was actively researching more often. I liked their sense of humor, and agree on a lot of their points, so there are probably quite a few times I reference their jokes and opinions, especially in these older streams when those videos were more "fresh" in my mind.

Douglas in the original had a painful and tired silent voice with a bit of hopelessness that portrays him , and this Douglas sounds like he is just bored and participates in this cause he got nothing better to do.

I was so excited to see the HD collection back in 2011-12. Saw it at Gamestop too... what an awful purchase. Thank God I still have my ps2 versions!

SH3 hd runs slow on OG hardware like it’s a weak emulator sometimes. I started with this on my 360, but trying pc I just can’t stop of how fast and entertaining that is.

Dr. Manhattan Heather lmao.... this version seems to be even worse than the digital version of the HD collection I own on the 360. But it looks like this version doesn't have the 1fps cutscenes after killing bosses in both games which happens in the 360 version, that was ATROCIOUS.

Tis gonna be painful but... alright, let's go. (Writing this after all the rest: sorry for the biblically long comment. This is what happens when I don't comment fast enough and keep writing stuff while watching. TL;DR: Great game, horrible version, fun video!) Not even starting the game and that You're not here song intro repeating in the menu... ugh. I'm having second thoughts and we haven't even started xP Ahg it's like torture haha And that Douglas? Reminds me of old games voice acting, but it doesn't suit SH not even one bit. I'm pretty sure the mannequin in the apartments had a different scream (maybe the nurse you're telling) in the PS2 original, I distinctly remember it not being Heather death scream like in the PC versions. And I remember it so well because I have an anecdote I tell every time I see someone playing this game and getting to that part, and I won't be a better man this time, (there's also a second anecdote for the hospital, sorry for the extremely long comment), so: I was 14 or so at the time, I didn't play horror games yet, it was my dad the one who did (was like that since I was a kid, so kinda a custom for us, he would play and I watched and put our heads together for puzzles and observation). Point is, when my dad entered that room, he explored everything but somehow missed the mannequin. We kept playing and be it fate or miracle, but he also missed something to keep progressing (I don't remember what, one of the things to climb down the elevator). So after a while running through the section and exploring we got comfortable, that's when he got to the mannequin room again, and this time he did find the wretched thing. We also had the ps2 plugged to the stereo system. You can guess the rest, but he kept exploring the room and then the scream happened, full volume stereo. We both jumped we almost hit the ceiling (I'm exaggerating, yes), then my dad pauses the game and we both go out of the room and to the living room were my grandma was watching a movie, we sat there with her for a while, commenting on it like nothing had happened before going back. All in all it was funny and it's one of the reasons I remember SH3 with so much affection. TL;DR: Mannequin jumpscare extremely effective in the originals. Both dad and me jumped. Jumped high. You know what? Barring Douglas, the voice acting isn't bothering me as much as the SH2 one, it's still not good and I miss the original, but I don't want to hit my head in the wall. Maybe the previous experience hindered my senses in some way. Look at that Heather walking through Silent Hill! It's like Silent Hill underwater! I like the nurses here are not the typical "sexy nurses" from 2 we see on every western game after, they still show the legs, but they're all hunched more like the ones from 1, coming from Alessa, which makes sense. I know people criticize the reuse of SH2 Brookhaven, but to me it's great, the feeling is pretty different and we get a different alter horrible hospital to enjoy. And speaking of the hospital... (wtf with that ectoplasming slurper? haha) I said how I didn't play horror games... until this moment. My dad went on a trip and I had the ps2 for that time, with SH3 and the save file left at the start of Brookhaven. So that was my first actual experience playing a horror game for myself, alone at night. Because I was a scaredy cat I took the shotgun out and decided to waste every single saved ammo to feel secure. Played the whole hospital without rewriting the save file so my dad wouldn't miss anything when coming back. I played the whole thing... except for one room I missed. You know *what* room. When my dad came back, I told him all proud of myself how I beat the hospital and I was eager to show him, now knowing what to expect I wasn't as scared. Then I *do* find the room... I start panicking, my dad too and amidst all the chaos he, for some reason, decides to scream "There's a baby there! There's a baby looking at you in the corner!" I couldn't see anything, obviously, and I can't remember being more scared in my life before. After that, it was me who had to play the horror games and my dad never touch another one :') This version doesn't make that room justice, with that bright icy Heather xP I was going to ask "what's wrong with this game?" after seeing the second shiny slurper, but then again... this *is* the HD collection we're talking about. I kinda want to see a game now where the cult succeeded in bringing forth their god and paradise, and we're in that new world. What and how would that be? That and a spin off about Douglas investigating a case in Silent Hill. It wouldn't be canon but it could be fun :D

Do we know why the PS3 version never got a patch?

The PS3 version DID get a patch, but only if you were playing it from a disk, or after downloading it digitally. This playthrough was done using the PSNow game streaming service, which for some reason, used the 1.0 unpatched release. The 360 version is the release that never got patched, most likely due to the high fees that Microsoft charges for patches and updates that Konami wasn't willing to pay.

The new voices suck for both games, but it sounds like the actors put more effort in this one, then actors of 2. And as you said before the actots in 2 are very good actors but just didnt do good for those characters.

@@Nubzombie No problem man you deserve all the likes. Im sure your channel will get bigger when some new Silent Hill stuff comes out. Or when you do In depth SH2 Remake. Us Silent Hill fans aren't common but we are loyal to the games and we all share the community and help keep it alive. And you do great getting new people into the lore. I've got my girlfriend into the games recently and been telling her stuff I hear from your streams, when she ask how I know all this I tell her I'll show your Vods to her when she gets done watching blind playthroughs.
