When you buy a used car never buy one that was previously owned by a woman. You can almost guarantee the car scarcely got its oil changed. I can’t tell you how many engines I’ve seen totaled because of women who don’t change their oil. Some woman wanted me to diagnose her daughter’s car once. I pulled the valve cover off and it looked worse than the one in this video. Her daughter NEVER changed the oil. The whole motor was trashed. It ticked just like this one. I knew right there that if it looks that bad up top the bottom end is toast too. I looked at the woman and told her the engine was done and she’d have to rebuild it. She must not have believed me because she got some other mechanic to try and fix it. He flushed out the engine and changed the oil for her. Guy probably felt like a hero after that. The mother then told me that she got in the car drove it down the block afterwards and kaboom 💥 the motor was toast. 🤦♀️ I was thinking to myself lady what did I tell you? The bearings in that engine were totally shot. Only thing holding it up was probably the layers of caked up oil. Once other mechanic dude flushed it out you were left with a bunch of worn out bearings not to mention the oil pump was probably still clogged to death from all that oil caked up in it. That is known as the tick of death. If she changed her oil regularly I’d say lifter. Since the oil has been neglected that entire engine is done. I’d bet her bearings are worn to the brass. That click is caused by oil starvation. If the oil galleys aren’t getting oil to the bearings nothing can save that engine but a complete tear down and rebuild. I cringe just thinking about the inside of that motor looks like.

3k OCI worked because half of people took that to 4-5-6k. 8-10k OCI means they go 10-13-14k. Often also using cheap oil and then blame the vehicle manufacturer. That thing needs oil pan removed as well to manually remove gunk. Then 15min flush @ idle, then 1hr idle flush, then valvoline R&P oil for a few oil changes, while changing the oil filter every 1k.
