I’ve had similar experience here in the US at Dominican salon of all places. The lady was black like me but detangle a my wet hair with a rat tail comb! I was so mortified but I sat there too and didn’t say anything it’s like that sometime. You keep thinking it will get better 😅 I just kept telling my self I’m starting a new hair journey 😂

I think it has something to do with you not wanting to anger the person your hair is with. But the TRAUMA! I have pissed of a some hairdressers applying leave in when my hair is dry and detangling my hair myself. @@LizMowah

🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ 😳 She’s definitely not a trained hair stylist of any kind. Say goodbye to your ends. 5 hours!! And I don’t understand why they’re starting your hair in a braid and then twisting, if that’s what I’m seeing. Especially if it’s your natural hair and they’re not adding in hair. Yes, lesson learned I’d rather pay more for a service, knowing that the work will be quality and good then to go to a lower price. But the end result was good. This is why I think I learned how to do my own hair and my own twist, and I only go to the salon for a trim. Thank you for sharing your story. I hope everything works out for you and that your hair will recover and heal.

😭😭,she isn't trained at all, starting mini twist with a braid is what is done when you want the twist to last longer but I don't like it cause it makes it difficult to take down. Thank you so much❤

If you like look up “The invisible root method hair twist” This is how I start my twist very time and they look incredible and natural. With the right maintenance it can last for weeks. And this way works on very size. I’ve done small/ to almost mini twist but I always add in hair to my own hair. I’m sure you can find a video tutorial on KZbin. Happy hair journey 😊

😢 I can relate ,truly sorry...What I do when I go to the salon , is I give them instructions on how to handle my natural hair and if they can't I leave

It’s not everyday you want to fight, I gave up on normal hairstylists after my edges kept leaving when I took out braids. I have not gone back but if I do, it can only be natural hair stylists from now on.

You have to go to a stylist who is ready and willing to have conversations with you. Communication is the key to successful interactions. Don't be shy about your hair.

I wanna learn how to take care of hair too, cause i actually did this to my sis hair which was almost waist length and it shrank drastically, like there was hair every whereeee😢😢. I've been the one helping her to take care of her hair whenever she comes back from school but that day i was soo tired and she had to go back for exams😩. The hair loss is paining me sha 🥲. I'd be glad to learn from you 😮‍💨

I just twisted my own hair just like yours last week. I think a major thing they didn't do was make sure your hair was moisturized throughout the process. It's normal to have shedding especially if you haven't combed through your hair in a while. Your hair turned out nice, but working on dry hair is a No!

It's so sad that West Africans don't know how to take care of West African hair. I hope more salons will take this process seriously. That breakage was unnecessary.

Last semester I made my hair myself most of the time and I was shocked by the length I retained.

😮 she didn't even detangle first and just went straight into blow drying. Ha! I like to look at my ingredients, before using a product. That gel makes the hair dey, from the alcohol it contains (ethanol). I use it sometimes just sparingly. In all, some of these salons know nothing about natural hair care. Sorry about your experience.
