The Spaniards held a large amount of territory, and what is now the USA, but it was sparsely populated, and it was mostly warring Indian tribes from up here. There were also misos and Americans located throughout the land. The Spanish empire fell, and Mexico declared independence. So did Texas. After 10 years, Texas joined the United States as it was, mostly American populated to begin with. That’s what they wanted to do. They had a dispute with Mexico as to what the southern border is. Which river is the southern border. That caused the Mexican American war. The Americans won the Mexican American war. They negotiated a cash and debt settlement in negotiations to cede these western territories which was all always a national security threat and various countries try to dominate. There was Spain there was France, and there was even Russia in the northwest territory. This is the American policy of manifest destiny, which is the understanding that we must control the land from coast to coast and create northern and southern borders to have a continuous country that can be defended. So the Mexican American war was over the Texas border, but it turned out to be good fortune for the Americans in that with winning the war, they could negotiate the acquisition of this wilderness territory. Mind you, the territory was populated by more Americans than anything. In fact, Spain encouraged Americans to populate that territory to help combat Indian tribes who of often rated south into Mexico, such as the Comanche and the Apache. So the land was not stolen. And we are going to sit here 170 years later and hit each other. It makes absolutely no sense. Mexicans continue to settle in the United States and we love our Mexican population and at this point we have so many immigrants from so many places we are mixed with all of them. To try to spark up some kind of 170 year land claim is a bunch of bullshit. Maybe this guy should move out of New Mexico and on a college campus and take a few classes
