Things might get worse when you actually get underneath the truck. Hopefully the suspension mods were not "hacked" as bad as the rest of the truck. Un-hack the mess, get it running good, new tires, camouflage paint job, and it would make great hunting, woods beater.

They made that interior up to and through 1994. In 1995 they changed the interior. I own a 1992 4x4 and a 1993 c1500. The 4x4 has 189000 all original and the c1500 has 167000 all original and i bought them both new. It is crazy how dependable these trucks have been with proper routine maintenance.

That's one minty 💩box Chevy. What did you trade for it...? The explanation for the engine seems completely logical. The rifle case is a 6.8 Spc which is expensive so save them don't scrap brass or nickel silver cartridge cases that are boxer primmed and reloadable. 355 is a 350 bored .030" over. Nothing special. This truck would be someone's cherry pie where I live. The carb and V belt conversions are a plus, the exhaust is a step up for my area too. They like the jalopy sound here.

Not bad really.. 350 bored 30 over = 355.. sounds like it has a cam, choke is probably sticking (idles high) Nothing that is broke you can't fix near free with junkyard parts.. It's not a looker but for off road toy/hunting it would be just fine.. people in the comment section today are expecting a frame off restoration or some shit idk. Seems like a perfect project truck for the channel..

Dude I just sold my 93 Chevy that was given to me for my first truck. Sum bitch was 2 years older than me, truck got put threw a lot as an old hunting truck but I sold it to a buddy for a cool 400 bucks, wasn’t running. He tore it down and the block/pistons/rings EVERYTHING in the bottom looked amazing. The heads were a different story, valves were leaking and just worn slam out. Never really changed the oil ANY at all that I can remember as it was just a spare. It was a good ole truck that I made ALOT of memories in. Might buy the body back and throw something massive in and just full send er.

I've owned a '89 Chevy, and I had the same exact issues you have. Off the bat, that truck probably has been sitting for awhile. Could be bad gas or spark plugs. What I ended up doing was replacing the spark plugs and wires, refueling it with better gas, and putting in Lucas transmission oil. Then I took it to a mechanic who said a rocker knuckle wasn't working properly and needed to be replaced. After all that, the truck ran like it was brand new.

I own one of these trucks. Best money I spent in getting it, and literally the most fun I've had in a 90s pickup truck, from the basic city driving, to wide open on the interstate. (The truck does go faster than the 85mph marked on the instrument panel under factory TBI injection.)

Sad as it is I had 88 coverted to 94... rebuilt every piece loved it. After several years and over 20k an old lady stroked out in town car left the main road at 50 and t-boned me sending me through concrete wall... all I can think at 37 now is heck yeah a base I know! 355 is 350 bored out .030 common to add a 400 crank and get more stroke making 383. It sounds like an aggressive cam. Betting bubba had friend with a "built" motor he swapped. Should be tbi injection. But a big cam in heavy vehicle works against it in low rpms... if I didnt have kiddo on the way I'd debate a 502 swap or 5.3 with a turbo new transmission and new rear axle then work my way back. As far as the v belt setup gm used a horse collar for serpentine and it would crack under heavy use so it's actually better.

Last time I checked valve covers and carburators were different engine parts, and didn't have to match. Maybe it would run better with Holley valve covers huh Jay? 😒 And that is a 6.8 spc case

I always hated chevy, But there seems to be not too much rust, Probably still has a floor. I only like those silverados because they were made before they got bad transmissions, I'd get some maaco paint and paint it white and make it look less like a crack-mobile. I think this would be a better trade than a buick rendezvous trade.

The electronic actuator on the front axle are notorious for going out. And if they would have put a high-volume oil pump in that engine it would explain the oil pressure gauge being where it is you could correct it by changing the ohms of the oil sending unit

I had a 93 C1500 for 15 years. They will run forever as long as you change the oil regularly, and the TBI system was really easy to work on. It was also the first year for the 4L60E transmission. Not sure why someone would swap it to an older drivetrain and have to deal with the TV cable on the trans, among other issues.

teat everything apart...start with a clean state.. it has potential but it is near to passing away. It appears to be a hacked job. I may be wrong to assume that the 350 is bored over .010 to make a 355. If you don't know some car mathematics or in case you do; here are some: engine size/60.6 = CID; and CIDx60.6=engine size; engine size x OB+ engine size=new engine size.. I do not any clue on stroke in that case ex. 350/60.6=5.7 L; 5.7x60.6=350; 350x0.010+350=353.5 CID Happy Holidays

Actuator is probably out in the front axle. I had a GMC k2500 i bought 10 yrs ago for $500 with a blown engine that looked like a cream puff compared to this thing. Nv4500 was good. Swapped in a 80k mile 97 vortec from a wrecked truck using a crusader intake. No 4x4 until i bought an aftermarket manual actuator with handle mounted under dash.

Oil gauge is pegged out bc sending unit on engine is for a light maybe. Ive ran into this problem twice on chevys
