Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Dayala, and Bhai Sati Das were executed at a kotwali (police-station) in the Chandni Chowk area of Delhi, under the express orders of Emperor Aurangzeb just before the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur. Bhai Mati Das was offered marriage of the Nawab's daughter as well as governorship of the province if he converted to Islam but he refused. Bhai Mati Das was executed by being bound between two pillars and cut in two.

Another: in the Anglo Saxon times I have 2 tortures to say, 1:you had to lay on this board thingy and your ankles were attached to this bar/log which was also attached to the board, and the same with your hands, and the bars/logs could spin, and you had to spin it forwards towards you (towards the torturers) and it would stretch you out! 2: there was a wall you had to lean your back on, and your hands were attached to the top of the wall, covered by belts, and as well as your feet which lead you in an uncomfortable position, and you had to stay like that for days/hours without food or drinks.

The man who is being cut in half is actually a Sikh (a warrior religion in india). Sikhs were brutally tortured when mughals and british ruled india. This picture is of the time when mughals ruled india. They wanted to turn every person Muslim. But Sikhs didn't let that happen obviously. So, the mughals, as a punishment brutally tortured Sikhs in worst possible scenarios. But the sikhs resisted their rule and torture because they were ready to take any punishment but convert into Islam. Yall should learn more about sikhs, it is very interesting. However, the hands of a thief are cut only, if in addition to all the necessary conditions the value of the stolen goods exceeds a quarter misqal of gold. “And (as for) the man who steals and the woman who steals, cut off their hands as a punishment for what they have earned, an exemplary punishment from Allah, and Allah is Mighty. Wise. But whoever repents after his inequity and reforms (himself), then surely Allah will turn to him (mercifully), surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.” -Qur'an, Surah al-Ma’ida 5:38-39
