The WORST Yearbook EVER- McNair High School in Atlanta, GA, DeKalb County School District. This yearbook was created by Byron Wesley Parker, McNair HS teacher & former professional football player from 2004-14, (voice in the video @ 8:37), and this yearbook was approved by the principal Loukisha Walker.
This yearbook lacks below and more...

• no senior superlatives
• no school activities identified
• no school clubs/organizations
• no football
• no soccer
• no wrestling teams
• no dance teams
• no homecoming
• no senior night

• staff titles (other than principal)
• no information about the school name
• book does not identify the school name/year on the book and did not include all students
Did you know from this yearbook that this is an Engineering High School, or the wrestling team won 1st place in the county match, the symphonic and marching band scored Superior at the festival or the Travel Club went to Guatemala?
Parents addressed the DeKalb County School district and the school board about their concerns with the senior dues of $325 that did not include the prom, senior picture, or yearbook. Sadly, the principal ended the SGA, Student Council, and senior class officers. In four years of high school, these high school seniors did not have one school dance. This was the first yearbook in four years of high school. Their senior trip was after school on a Friday from 4-9pm to Stone Mountain Park which is about fifteen minutes from the school. The school did not have a senior college trip in their senior year. This yearbook was an additional $60 to purchase. The school board member, Dr. Michael Ervin, and regional superintendent, Dr. Ralph Simpson, failed to help McNair High School seniors and parents with their concerns.

This woman is my new hero! People can complain about "resources" all they want. But this yearbook proves that a major part of the problem at THIS school is the lack of care of the administration. If they don't take the time to care about something such as this, what makes anyone think they would work at the hard stuff for your kids?

I'm so sorry I'm seeing this so late. As a High School educator and Artist, there is no excuse for this. Please excuse me, but this is not about "black or white", this is about lack of accountability, lack of planning, scheduling, organization, responsibility and everything that goes into creating a proper keepsake yearbook that these students deserve. I'm very sorry this happened to your school community and I hope someone is listening and making changes towards improvements.

This is so sad I hate that community over there. And not because of the students it's because of the adults that don't give the students what they truly need and it all starts from the top with the principal and superintendent! The sane mess If not worse is happening down the street at carver! The district doesn't support administration, the kids realize it and it's reflected in the school events and materials/events.. just sad.

Yes I am an alum of McNair High School and I was an editor as well of the 2004 class. In the years after I graduated the yearbook did decline why I'm not sure. 2004 and years prior the yearbook was done in great taste. Not knocking this yearbook...No its not the best I've seen but however we were partnered through a photo company who published our yearbooks. Also, Im not sure if yearbook is offered as a class during the lunch block still or not. Our yearbook sponsor had 3 or 4 cameras for us to use for yearbook purposes. Maybe you all should consider making it a class again if it is not because I still cherish my memories from 2000 to 2004 with each yearbook

this is SO infuriating, it makes me so mad! whoever did that yearbook is sorry, and should never, and i mean NEVER even come close to a yearbook. that is the WORST yearbook ever. like she said at 4:17, there were no extracurricular activities/athletic pictures in there at all. i would especially be pissed off if they didn't include the band members, since i am a band member myself.

I was my school's yearbook adviser for over 20 years. I also judged yearbooks for Columbia University Scholastic Services. All of your comments were spot on. All photos should have a caption with the five elements of good journalism: who, what, when where, and why. It's too bad you weren't on the staff since you know what a good yearbook should contain.

This video is about more than just a poorly designed book. It is an apt symbol of the low-quality standard of education many Black students in public schools are getting today. But more than that: The staff that repeatedly delivered failed expectations to parents and students of the McNair 2016 graduating class, the counselors who didn't take their college-prep juniors and seniors to visit prospective universities, the so-called educators who stood and cheered during a McNair High talent show while a dancing young couple simulated sex on stage--they are what happens when people get degrees instead of getting actually educated, when they get job positions for which they are not qualified, and when they care more about what Cookie of "Empire" would do than they care about Jesus and His empire of righteousness. And then, when someone like the concerned maker of this video, a tax-paying parent and community activist, brings to their attention their substandard work and egregious values, they tell her to stop complaining and go to the White people's part of town, north Fulton! I always say that a Black American will always find frustration when she expects something from her inferior cousins that they are unable to deliver.

I will say though what was said about having more resources in the north end of the county...where is the lie? It's been like that for years. McNair used to get Dunwoody's old book hand-me-down's. Coach Parker. shouldn't ever tell a parent that a child at McNair high school shouldn't expect to receive the same benefits of a school in another District. or on the north side of town as he stated . However this is THE WORST YEAR BOOK EVER parents should be given there money back. The principal and the staff should be disappointed. This book also represents them. however this book has more pictures of the principal than the seniors class. it's strange that my son picture isn't in the book. he graduated with the class of 2016. But just maybe coach Parker has a point. judging by this year book. MCNAIR HIGH SCHOOL had no student government or seniors superlatives . and no sponsors. I do believe that if the board of education had listen to some of the parents. This would have been a more productive school year. for the class of 2016. meaning .senior year should be the best year ever. This wasn't the case. They didn't have a real senior week. They were over charge for graduation. They didn't have a real year book committee. I hope Dr Walker go above and beyond for the class of 2017.

Lmao... what a sad and crappy yearbook. There's a big difference between a good yearbook and a bad one. One of my middle school yearbooks was kinda like the one in this video (but not THAT bad). It was just a boring book full of random pictures with no captions or information whatsoever. A good yearbook should have a theme, articles, be very informative, have every picture captioned, and be fun to read through for years and years after

Is this a student published yearbook? If so, then it's on the students. It's not the teacher's job to write the yearbook. Student's should be held accountable for THEIR work. It takes a lot to produce a yearbook. Students no longer care about having pride nor a spirit of excellence. If the students can't put together anything better than that, then the school needs to cut the class and put the responsibility of the yearbook in the hands of an outside source.
