I would like to see a review of the different papers from Arteza they have a lot and they are very confusing! Just to compare the watercolor papers would be a chore!
@vernonzehr5 жыл бұрын
I would like to know your experience with gouaches and if the Arteza brand is similar to other high end gouache in quality. p.s. I agree about hot press watercolor paper after finally using it recently. I saw many artists online using it and I searched and searched locally here in my town in the US and I could only find one store that actually carried hot press watercolor paper and they only had one small spot for a single size pad hidden away amongst an over abundance of cold press paper in many many sizes and formats. It seemed a tad unfair to carry so many different variations of the same cold press paper and just one option for hot press. I hate buying paper online without being able to see it or touch it. Apparently hot press watercolor paper is not "popular" enough for art stores to carry it which seems odd to me as it has so many good qualities.

Ok moral of the story: Arteza is a pretty good brand, Jenna draws very beautifully, and don’t drink paint water.

Thank heaven I quite smoking going on 3 years now. However, drinking paint water is nothing compared to forgetting where you put a smoke out and drinking from a partially full soda can only to discover THAT is where you had been putting your butts out in a creative frenzy. That was only one of a thousand reasons I quit smoking. :)

I did some quick research and the Arteza brush pens are lightfast! Woohoo! I just discovered that all alcohol pens from Copic or Arteza or any other company are NOT lightfast and many of the colors will fade dramatically in a short time. There is nothing that can protect them, no spray or glass can stop the colors from fading. I think I will go with the brush pens since I have more experience with watercolor and they are lightfast. Also you get more bang for the buck. The 96 brush pen set is same price as the 60 alcohol marker set. The price difference with Tombow brush pens you mentioned is probably a combination of dual nibs and shipping to UK. I was able to find that same set from Tombow for a hundred less than you quoted. I don't need the dual nibs on the brush pens. The other nib is like a regular fine tip marker. I am more use to using brushes anyway. Compared to the alcohol markers, the brush pens are a better value and are lightfast.

I could be mistaken but the side effect of the paper making process is the reason the papers have different surfaces. Hot pressed is smooth is because the paper is pressed while Hot and the resulting surface is smooth, cold is done differently and the “side effect” is a more course surface or bumpy! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and review with us. I enjoyed watching your video and look forward to seeing your next video, I enjoy traditional art most! I have this set of markers and I have trouble with blending and doing a gradient background, maybe it is a learning process? New supplies etc. Have a wonderful day!

I have these brush markers, and I do dip them in water. They lose a very small amount of ink when you dip them, but I’ve used mine a lot for several months and they are still going strong on the ink so I don’t think it’s a very big deal. I just love how easy it is to use them by dipping them.

I thought I had to throw away my old watercolor brush markers of another brand because most were dry now and I saw a tip that you could dip the pen bristles straight into a cup of water and paint with them that way and it totally revived them so I recommend that in yours are dry by now!

A good way to use these on non water colour paper, eg cheap stuff is to colour the pen onto clingfilm or tin foil, and then pick up the colour with the waterbrush pen and spread it around..
@staticsmouse79405 жыл бұрын
Hey Jenna I love your videos. Just thought I'd let you know but you have cold press and hot press mixed up. The hot press is the one that soaks up the water quicker. That's why on the smooth paper trial you had trouble with the blending. I still love your videos, it's just something I noticed. 💕

@idk_idk84315 жыл бұрын
I have the 48 set and I’m having trouble with them. They are rlly opaque on the paper I use, which I guess is nice and all but like I don’t like it. Bc like it overpowers the drawing. I have a Canson mix media sketchbook, and that may be why it doesn’t look right. But I also have the Canson watercolor pad and it doesn’t look right also. And when I use the water brush pen, the ink becomes kind of muddled and expands (I guess you could say) and it looks kind of muddled. Also when you blended and used the water brush pen,(is that what’s it’s called?) did some of the “hairs” come out? Or stick out? Because mine does and it’s rather bothersome. I often have to pull the singular “hair” out because when I use it to spread the color, the stray hair goes out of the line, and makes a line of color out of my intended area. It’s really annoying. And sometimes I cut it(more like trim the edge of the singular stray hair(s)) and it still comes back. Or if I quickly pull it out, sometimes it causes other stray hairs. So it’s a mess. Or sometimes when I’m mixing the colors, it causes more bristles(that’s the word, I couldn’t think of it so I just called it hairs), to come out. I think I would rlly enjoy them but right now I’m not really enjoying them as I keep having problems with them. Sorry for this lengthy paragraph but I need advice and would take any from people who own these or maybe have a good suggestion. Please let me know if any tricks or strategies you can think of! Also any watercolor sketchbook brand you recommend? Thank you. Btw my Canson watercolor pad is Cold pressed ( I don’t know if that matters or not.) Please help an inspiring young artist!

I'm trying to find a KZbin artist who can draw anything besides mermaids, fairies and effing unicorns. Anyone?
@JennaDrawing5 жыл бұрын
One of my favorite channels on KZbin is Apterus Graphics (kzbin.info/door/hd8_Jf1ZQaTO5NFAm3lbmAvideos) he does incredible digital paintings which feature lots of horror/gore elements like zombies or skulls if that's more of what you're looking for. Believe it or not, he's a massive inspiration of mine and makes me want to venture outside the mermaid/fairy kind of stuff! Which, by the way, there's nothing wrong with :)
