WORTH THE HYPE? Trying Springbank 15 For the First Time!

I really like this concept of having the same Whiskey throughout the year. I often think the neck pour can bias someone so this is really cool to me.

In the US pre-pandemic I got one of these and it was $105 before tax and it was 750 ML size. It was Springbank funk with Sherry notes mixed in and quite complex and wonderful to me. I only got another bottle middle of last year. For 160 US. I hope it’s good. I can’t wait to see the rest of your reviews throughout the year.

I’ve just had a couple of drams of the springbank 15. Absolute stunning. Sherried, full bodied, oily, beautiful mouth feel, long finish. Price is big, but if affordable, buy it.

Bought one off the shelf 7 years ago....best bottle I had ever tasted. Won a second one in a lottery a few years ago, and holding onto that one!

I’m on my fourth or fifth bottle of this and I always feel like it has more Springbankiness than the 10. I’ve had some batches that are sweeter than others and prefer the less sweet batches. I look forward to your next year of reviews on this bottle!

Oh interesting! Perhaps my SB10 was just unusually funky, but yeah so far absolutely not on this. But there is plenty of time for change - I'll update in a couple months!

Springbanks need Time and Temperature in the Glass to open up😅, and a Drop or 2 of Water help a lot. Fresh poured the are shy.

Fingers crossed! It has a habit I find of turning up when you least expect it. I saw a bottle of the 15 in a local pub of mine about a month after I'd purchased it. Typical ey!

Have a similar feeling about the 15, I still like it but the truest expression of SB for me is the 12CS, Ive tried the 18, 21 and even a 30 which are all mind blowing but the 12 is just the best experience for my tastes.

Everyone I know who knows their whisky has said it's the 12 Year Cask Strength to hunt, the closest I've got was north of £200 secondary market and it's just too much.

I love the 15, and almost always find it well ahead of the Springbank 10. That said, I think you stopped by the same month I was in Campbeltown and I will say I preferred the 10 at the Washback bar on that trip. I think the last 10 was exceptional, and this 15 was one of my least favorite batches of all time. That said, I am hoping that it opens up as I have a bottle as well.

Ah interesting! It does seem opinions on the 15 change a lot, which may suggest batch variation if nothing else. It's great, don't get me wrong - just not quite what I was expecting so far.

I had a very similar exp with the 2024 Bottling of the SB 10. A nice whisky but not the experience i kept hearing from others. Not much "funk" Nice but not a complex "challenging" exciting dram as i was led to believe. Hopefully after a few months things may change

Oh interesting, I can't even imagine what the SB 10 would be like without the funk given just how prominent it is in my bottling!

This is one of my favourites . Unfortunately its been discovered hence the price . I keep waiting for the market crash , but it doesn't seem to be coming any time soon . Bring back the 80's

you used to be able to get it no problem as it was just an unfashionable whisky I think the last one I had I paid about 60 quid, just cant get it now for any sensible money, its got a real funk to it which did polarise opinion...but as you just cant buy it now in a shop its unlikely I will get a bottle again

The funk is what I was really looking forward to. Had so much of it in my bottle of the 10 Year - seems lacking in this 15. But hopefully with time in time it may improve!
