Glad you found a dealer that seems to value their customers. Shame they're a good distance away from you, but on the plus side, its more time to enjoy the ride😊😊. Hope the GS now runs as it should after such a thorough going over, I'll be interested to see future reports on your travels. I had the letter inviting me to take Goldie for the health check, but I'm afraid he will have to wait till I can ride again. Ride safe Rog

Im in Spain near Barcelona and very interested in the BSA 650, but the nearest dealer I visited had no bikes or sales people .... i think they'd just moved permises. They use Peugeot bike dealers. Madrid has a test bike, so Ive got an excuse to do the 1200k.s round trip. I tried the RE Classic 350 and found it too weedy. I'll also be waiting for the RE Classic 650. There are 2 excellent dealers in Barcelona, which helps. Anyway, keep us updated, I still think the BSA is a quality bike but with a poor dealer network at the moment
@CornishMotorcycleDiariesКүн бұрын
Peugeot is also owned by Mahindra, so that should be a good fit. The network of Dealers in SpIn is still concentrated in the big cities, so I get your frustration. The Classic 650 is a very good looking bike, but suffers from its weight IMHO, although I've yet to test it
@easy4x4Күн бұрын
@CornishMotorcycleDiaries thanks for that. Didn't twig that Mahindra also own Peugeot. Didn't see that coming!!! BSA " Barcelona " is in Sabadell, a large satellite city. Very weird they didn't pick one of the many in Barcelona itself. It would give it more footfall and be far more convenient 🙄. Maybe no-one else wanted them ? 🤔

Glad I found your channel. What can I say that’s one sale Col from Thor Motorcycles has lost. I was thinking about buying from there. Always found him quite abrupt, any time I’ve visited his store. But having watched your vids after you broke down I won’t be parting with money in his sales room. There are plenty of good dealers around. I think I had your Moto Guzzi on watch on Facebook market place for a while, which I did consider as a purchase. I’ve been considering the BSA just not sure after a few horror stories I’ve seen about them, and I think the way the manufacturer Mihindra group are handling things has not been great. I’ve now subscribed to your channel and will watch your progress.
@CornishMotorcycleDiaries18 күн бұрын
Wise decision methinks. Bridge In Exeter are OK, but all dealers and Manufacturers are in it for the money, which is understandable, but sometimes leads to bad decisions. Mahindra are a vast organisation and have their eyes on bigger markets, but the 2+2 warranty is reassuring. Thanks also for the vote of confidence, means a lot to me 👍 I will be bringing out a full BSA 'owners experience' Vlog out towards the end of the year, plus other stuff, so stay tuned as it were 😉

It’s like anything, you can get a lemon, I bought a brand new Kawasaki GPZ1100 in 1984, 100 miles and it stopped!!! A faulty fuel regulator that’s all, bike was never a problem after that, my 2004 zx10r recalled twice, once for handlebar clamps and another for the front wheel supposedly collapsing but 20 years on not a problem, so it’s not just bsa that have gremlins, mass produced machines from third world countries are bound to have some problems, I was talking to a triumph shop and they said triumph had to go numerous times to Thailand to sort out quality problems, not with the parts, the building of the bikes but they seem to have sorted it. It’s a new venture and a new bike, I’m sure there’s plenty of these gold stars out there that are just fine. Can anyone remember the Honda V4s and the CB900s with camchain problems??? That was a terrible time for Honda.

I bought my GoldStar in March 23 from my dealer, just 7 miles away. Unfortunately because BSA messed him about and he stopped selling new BSAs on Jan 1st this year. No dealer replaced him for quiet a while until Millenium in St. Helens took over some distance away from me. I've been trying to sell it but because of heavy discounting of new bikes by BSA with little success. My original dealer wasn't interested and strangely enough Millenium weren't either. Honda offered me 2600, Yamaha 3 grand and Kawasaki 3400. As I paid 6800 and my bike has 675 on the clock that's a massive hit after just 18 months.
@CornishMotorcycleDiariesАй бұрын
That's a disappointing outcome for sure. 😮
@Caledonia3104Ай бұрын
just curious....why would you want to sell it after 675 miles? All bikes have took a hit on the second hand market, not special to BSA. Why not just keep it and enjoy it. Bikes last a long time if you look after them.
@ianhalliwell8604Ай бұрын
Because of the way BSAs customer service stinks. They can't hold onto distributors and the same goes for punters who've bought one.

I hope the health check is a success for you. My bike seems fine, but I only ever had one real issue (similar to yours) that I was lucky to fix at the roadside. I still love the way the BSA rides. But I was advised by the importer to use E5. It does make the bike run smoother, but no more fuel efficient. I try to do this, when the price difference is not scandalous (not using Shell fuel then!).
@CornishMotorcycleDiariesАй бұрын
Interesting. Let us know how it goes long term?
@Caledonia3104Ай бұрын
I'd be interested on what you mean by the bike running smoother. I personally use E5 on both my bikes. If i fill up my car with diesel it will take over £100 due to the size of the tank. If i fill up my tank on my bikes the difference between E5 and E10 is usually less than £1 due to the size of a tank of fuel. I think both have 17 litre tanks but i wouldn't bet money on it. Basically, what i am saying is, unless you run your tank to near empty, if your concerned that it costs an extra £1.70 to fill it from dry at a 10 p a litre difference between E5 and E10 is it a price worth worrying about.
@BillF-w4eАй бұрын
I also have two bikes. The BSA, when using E5 seems smoother from cold, no lumpiness, and picks up without any hiccoughs at all revs, compared to E10. However, my RE classic makes no difference to running. A surprise to me, but useful to know. Price affects my choices simply because the price difference to the retailer is a few pence per litre, but garages increase profits on the E5. Lowest difference is 6p at T sco, some Shell Garages are some 25p per litre more.
