I wouldn't say they suck badly, you can still get through the campaign on easy/normal if you're decent, but if you're still using them by the time you get round to the horde mode, that's when they'll start to really let you down.

Totally agree with you and the awful HUD why are they constantly plastering your screen with tags with silly colours !? It's so fu*ked up it's not even fun anymore 😔 all you need for a HUD in these games are a compass at the top of your screen and ammo capacity not " incoming enemies" or whatever the hell it says total garbage lazy developers . I'm actually sick of this they know that children play games and they are making it easier for them to play but more annoying for us to play totally wrong ! It's depressing me now 😔

Don’t forget one game mode with microtransactions, FOMO, gambling, unfair hours to get rewards/unlocks basically selling you another job where you get shafted without lube but you know it’s all optional and you’re able to get them after a week of playing not to mention sometimes they’re buggy, unbalanced or unfinished but don’t worry because they’ll patch it after a year or two

tbh, on a higher difficulty with teamdamage on it might be fun but yeah, this looks awful otherwise third person, meh animations, meh weapon designs, meh (just look at the pulse rifle and flamethrower, all you had to do was copy the movie probs and not put a longer barrel on it or whatever the heck the incediary unit is supposed to be now, like wtf) i rather play aliens eradications, its free and looks better despite being a doom mod (ok maybe not better but it has atmosphere that you can cut with a knife unlike this one)

I used to love playing Avp 1 and 2, the human campaigns were sooooo good. They combined the claustrophobic loneliness of alien isolation and the madness of an FPS perfectly, and the multiplayer was fantastic fun. I have been waiting 20 years for another aliens game as good . . . At this rate I will be waiting another 20 😔

The Alien IP is just cursed at this point. Isolation was pure luck it wasn't a flop. If you want a hope for a sci-fi horror game, Dead Space remake is coming up, The Calisto Protocol (2022), and Negative Atmosphere (TBA).

NEW GAME BAD There's a bunch of stupid shit with current year gaming when it comes to forced accessibility, but you'd be delusional to think that old games didn't have jank and garbage design as well. Take off your rose-tinted glasses. This one is a fairly well designed game, but I guess it kinda suffers for having the piss easy normal difficulty set on by default, even if the higher difficulty that actually adds friendly fire and ramps up bunch of modifiers that force you to shoot and move with a purpose rather than spasticly dodgeroll around like it was Tard Souls, and it fucking says itself that "it's the way it's meant to be played".

Funnily me and my mates played the 25 year old Quake campaign in coop the other day and had a great time. More fun than some modern coop games.

I just don't understand how developers decide to make a game like this but do absolutely no market research into what people want and then add some innovation to it. There's so much you can do here with Aliens, add multi tier maps and make the acid a major threat that eats into the floor so you have to navigate not falling down to floors below. If you take too long in one area, you get hull breaches that you need to grab nearby sheets to patch the holes. That could then add an element where you need to seal off rooms and replenish your air. Add something similar to WWZ where you have to "disinfect" or remove your armour once the integrity gets too low before it burns through. Add areas where if you don't have awareness, you can be dragged into nearby vents and you have to get you team to shoot or grab your character within a set amount of time otherwise you get taken to nearby nests. Then you have to decide whether to detour and backtrack to save them. So many fun ideas that add more RNG. Add Android escort missions where you need them to input commands into the computer. That's just a few I've come up with in 5 minutes, imagine having a full team?

Great ideas… and yes it is amazing these teams do not do more community research before developing. The day alien acid blood finally eats through the floor and allows the player to jump down into the holes will be a glorious day of celebration indeed. Amazing no one does this. Just recreate Ripley’s Newt rescue and build that kind of atmosphere into all the levels and you’ll have a winner.

They are intelligent people they know that, my opinion is now that games are not made for the love of games, its all about money, turning $1million into $10 million. Its why certain genres of games are not made anymore. Its why most movies are also crap these days. Everything is dumbed down to its lowest common denominator for mass consumption. The game has been made for teens to sell more copies, if the game was full on horror and difficult it would be 18+ and not purchased by as many people. See the recent Resident Evil, everything is is easy and basic, but oooh pretty graphics. The only chance we have of a good game now is through indie devs ie the game lovers making games they love. I am just waiting for the huge disappointment that no doubt BF2042 will be.

An Alien game is easy enough as it's pure horror. An Aliens game they have never been able to figure out (mostly AvP 1 and 2). Devs watch Aliens and just see an action movie completely missing what made it such an iconic movie. Would have been better in 1st person as an ok "co-op" game with friends if you have any online.

Aliens is my all time favorite movie, EVER!! After Colonial Marines, I was concerned with any new game in the universe but after playing through a few levels, yeah this is no Colonial Marines. Absolutely loving the game. It's just about what I wanted for an aliens game that mimic the amazing action of the movie and this game nails the look sound, atmosphere, feel of the movie. Is it perfect, no, but close enough as many of us have been waiting decades for an Aliens game like the movie.

Remember Alien Resurrection on PS1, that really dark, creepy and difficult game which had RE style puzzles in it. Remember AVP when you had 3 separate campaigns where you could play as an Alien, Predator and Human, where the online let you play as teams or free for all as any of the 3 races? Remember Alien Isolation, which was like a HD remake of Alien Resurrection with that really clever AI Xenomorph who was not only terrifying, but stalked you relentlessly throughout the whole game. Alien used to have amazing games, but now every game is this shitty, run of the mill, copy and paste, co-op looter shooter with a half assed story and repetitive gameplay.

Alien games could be done well with a shooter. But I think it would have to be a linear story based game that doesn’t rely on its shooting but rather it’s story. Alien was always about the story and atmosphere. Honestly I’ve always thought an alien game made by Arkane studios would be phenomenal. That's a bit harsh. One of the lures of old games is that you could just jump in and play. Doom for example. Simplicity isn't the issue. I think it's lack of direction between the developers and the guys in charge.

As pointed out, it even tells you theres an ambush round the corner, not even giving you the mind to think ahead, or get you chucked into the deep end and win your way out of it... This game is so simple-mind for being told what to do, its shocking

I haven't played it and probably won't, but from the footage I have seen your review seems spot on. The Alien franchise is one of my all time favourites. I remember seeing the original movie when I was far too young and for months could hardly enter a room alone for fear of being gobbled up by a Xenomorph hiding in the ceiling. Alien Isolation is the best game in the entire franchise for me. This particular game looks like an alright shooter, but if not for it being an Alien game I can't see it being more than a 5/10.

There's acid blood everywhere in this game. It sprays on you, some aliens spit it at you, and the bot AI is actually smart enough to avoid the puddles of it on the floor.

Well i am really really sad to say, i anticipated this when i heard about the game, oh well yet another nail in the Aliens franchise. Why cant they make more games like AVP 1 and 2? They were absolutlely brilliant AND worthy of the license.

I played and loved AVP1 and 2 like the rest of us… but if you go back and play them now, it’s just not the same. I don’t feel they aged well… but I love the formula of playing as any of the 3 characters. For what it’s worth, if you are an Aliens fan you WILL find enjoyment in Aliens Fireteam Elite… and in my opinion it is totally worth the $40 asking price. No it is not perfect, it cuts corners, and it is not exactly what everyone wanted… but it scratches that itch.

@@Drain_Life_Archive Lot's of people shat on that game but I really enjoyed it for the time when on ps3. The predator and aliens animation and design felt awesome for the time. The 3 campaigns were fun but criminally short. Didn't play the multiplayer much, but remember the avp aztec map that moved around like in the film which was pretty cool. In general, it just lacked content and didn't feel fully fleshed out.

I recommend playing on intense right from the beginning it’s a lot more fun that way in my opinion.

Agreed. We started immediately on Intense and the difficulty felt really good, encounters were intense, just barely making it to the next ammo box to refill (few times had to rely on sidearm to get the last few corridors through). We are playing with 2 players and 1 bot so that ramps up the difficulty nicely in addition to the Intense level. After failing one map multiple times, we played it on Normal and it was not enjoyable. Too easy and got through it on one go. Had to immediately switch back to Intense and try again with better tactics.

Yeah, the game's amazing. Shits all over WWZ. I too started on Intense, but lowered the difficulty just to make progress. When everything's unlocked however, that's the only way I'll play: on the hardest settings.

Might be worth mentioning that the only paid dlc is cosmetics, they planning more campaign levels for free later down the line to tie into the 4 'seasonal' releases of cosmetics.

@@HighwayUK another company, rushing to release a garbage unfinished game, to make a profit.....they say there are 5 maps, but when you see them whole, is just a combination of 3 maps (hive, corridors and temple).......what I really can't understand is why to make it so easy.....this game you basically just press X until you get cramps, and you can finish the game.

When compared to other games in similar genres such as World War Z.... this is miles better. As for press X to win gameplay... isnt that every single console game there? 😞 Back to "Isolation" Main reason to play Alien Isolation? Because you play as Amanda Ripley, aka Ellen Ripley's daughter from the movies, aka Sigourney Weaver! A Part 2 with a tad more action, VR, & the ability to kill an Xenomorph but with severe consequences to gameplay would be amazing!

There's a free VR mod for Alien: Isolation called MotherVR. I spent an hour just in the first ship examining every single detail in VR. It is absolutely incredible. Unfortunately, I didn't get very far overall as I shat myself once progressing further :D

Alien AI was horrible... Circling around player only, and if the room is too big, he may just go in and out for 4 minutes in a row, so you just sit and wait looking and this circus.... Androids were way more scary and fun
