We've sailed on RCLs Oasis of the Seas twice and loved it. Plenty to do and eat included in the cruise fare. Never ate at a specialty restaurant, and plenty of included food. We had 2 balcony rooms (4 ppl) on a 7 night cruise for under 6k. Choice is good.

To my family the biggest difference was the shows. The Disney Broadway shows are amazing. The RC shows are pretty good - our favorites were the ice show and the diving show - but they can't touch the Disney shows.

DCL has low key ruined the parks for us 😂 Don’t get me wrong, we love visiting the parks and still go often, but for roughly the same price the cruise is way more relaxing! The all-inclusiveness of it and not having to pull out my wallet or budget is a much needed mental break. Leslie has helped us book 5+ cruises in the past 2 years and we love her and the trip we’ve taken!

Disney “Camp at Sea” for kids!!!! Our son loves the kids club on DCL and he says it’s like going to camp at sea! lol… He loves it!

Would love to know your thoughts on two inside connecting rooms vs. delux family veranda. Family of 4 but we don’t like sharing beds!!
@jamesvitelli8800Ай бұрын
I can’t disagree with any of your comparisons. That said, the biggest factor for us when making our choice is whether the itinerary is port intensive or Sea Day intensive. Yes, DCL excels with its kids clubs, theater shows and characters. But if you are getting off the ship at 8:30 to explore a port like Skagway or Santorini and you don’t get back onto the ship until 5:30, and then you freshen up and head to dinner as a family, and then take in a little bit of entertainment and head to bed to get ready for the next day, the offerings that Disney excels largely cease to be relevant. On a port-intensive cruise, the ship is basically transportation and under those circumstances, it is hard to justify paying DCL prices for all those great features that rarely get used. On the flip side, if one is in the Bahamas or Caribbean and 4 of the 7 days are either Sea Days or Private Island Days, DCL really can’t be beat. Full disclosure. While we are definitely a “Disney Family”, when it comes to cruising, by age 14 our daughter wanted our cruises to be more sophisticated and less kid-centric, opting to get her Disney fix at WDW. So we became loyal to Princess Cruise Line. She didn’t want the RCL experience either.

Honestly, I think Disney cruising is the best. I loved the Wish and we're going on it again next year ;-) I'd love to go on the Fantasy and the Adventure. Also, I think the people on Disney cruises are a bit better behaved than other lines. We don't have kids but we love the Disney cruises and meeting the characters (except the Marvel restaurant is complete crap in food and their "show" so we'll skip that next time) I don't care about the kid's area, though we did tour it on the Wish and it was amazing, but we loved the bars and other restaurants, and the staff is beyond lovely. There are also plenty of quiet places to go if you don't want to be disturbed.

Such a subjective topic. What’s important to one person, isn’t to another. Yes, the Disney kids club is amazing but my 9 year old still wasn’t interested whether it was Disney or RCI. I’d love to do another Disney cruise but can’t justify the cost, especially coming from Australia. We did 6 night Disney from Sydney in January 2024, was almost AUD13,000 vs 10 night RCI from Sydney AUD4,500. For us cruising more often plus the ports are most important so just can’t justify Disney. Would love to sail from Florida though and be able to go to Castaway Cay. Trying to save to get to the parks is more important than Disney Cruise for us at the moment too. The tip for Disney’s room service would have been the same if not more than RCI’s charge. We didn’t do the specialty restaurants on Disney or RCI
@AddictedtotheMouse2 ай бұрын
Sorry, are you saying you wouldn’t tip on RCCL since they are charging a service fee?
@khardy18012 ай бұрын
@@AddictedtotheMouse That’s not what I’m saying. We live in Australia where tipping is not as common as in USA. We don’t even see our prepaid gratuities as it’s all prebuilt into the fares over here. The only cruise line that doesn’t do it here is Disney. If it’s great service we still pay extra including for room service.
@AddictedtotheMouse2 ай бұрын
@@khardy1801 yeah, the tipping culture here is getting out of hand, honestly. You just threw me off with saying DCL room service would be the same as RCCL or more with the charge. Was just curious.

DCL is the best! That was all we cruised as my nephews were growing up. Sadly, their parents split, and the boys decided they don't like cruising anymore, so I'm on my own. I can't justify the cost for just me. I booked a 15-night cruise from Los Angeles to Miami on NCL as my first solo cruise, so we shall see how that goes. It was only $2,100 (inside). It was listed at $1,400, but all the additional costs brought it up. I do want to get back to Castaway Cay some day! Thanks for the comparison.

One minor correction. You mentioned the Soda was included throughout the ship on DCL. Soda is only included (free) on the pool deck and in the MDRs. If get a soda at the bars, room service, preludes or other venues you will be charged for soda 😞
@AddictedtotheMouse2 ай бұрын
Don’t remember saying that, but you are correct. Sodas are free at the self service fountains on the pool deck and also free in the dining rooms from your servers.

Having sailed with RCL and DCL it’s not worth the extra money. Especially on DCLs older ships.

I hated going to camp when I was a kid so I would have hated the kids club, even the clubs for older teens.
@AddictedtotheMouse2 ай бұрын
lol, ok? But will you concede that a lot of kids actually like group activities and engaging with other kids and those kids would probably really enjoy these clubs?

I think it is a crazy price i can do 5 7 day cruises for that Disney cruise price I will keep on cruising with carnival and go many more cruises that way we are platinum also. just not on Disney 🙂

How do RCL entertainment and shows compare to Disney's? Are the RCL entertainers not as talented? The artists/music not as good?
@timmyi10302 ай бұрын
They never mentioned about the aqua shows , Ice skating shows and theater production shows on Royal. I think they’re blow any of the shows that Disney have on their ships

They have talented performers, but I agree the shows were not as good as DCL in our opinion
