I love collecting oil lamps. Honestly getting out combing through estate sales and yard sales looking for forgotten treasures is part of the fun; I enjoy cleaning and tinkering on the lamps to rehab them. I started about 2 years ago and currently have 41 complete correct lamps and numerous parts. I found a b&h center draft lamp today for $5 at a yard sale.

Thank you so much for making videos to help us "Newbies" learn how to use these things. I went to an estate sale this morning and purchased a beautiful student lamp. The man working there took it apart and boxed it for me. When I got it home I realized it "Might" be missing a part! There is no wick or wick holder. I'm unfamiliar with a "Student Lamp" any chance I could send you a photo and you could let me know what I need to get for it?

That's a great lamp. Second one, I don't know how many times I've seen this video. Can you tell me the name of the second lamp? I want to save it.

Before standard oil, lighting these things was a dangerous proposition.
