Should Christians Kiss Before Marriage?

My husband and I did not kiss before marriage. I wedding day was our first kiss. We were very happy with the boundaries and commitments we made. It kept our relationship pure and didn't cause it to progress faster than was appropriate.

Great advice & insight! Many years ago, before I started seriously dating, I would joke with one of my friends, who made this agreement with the person she was dating. They also included no being alone in their perspective homes. I remember being invited to her home for dinner one evening & I was a bit detained due to a traffic jam. Once I arrived, her boyfriend was sitting in the car & he told me he was waiting on me to arrive, so that he wouldn’t be entering by himself & they would be alone. I joked with them then, but hindsight, I totally see & understand why they agreed to this; or anyone for that matter. Thank you for posting this reminder of my agreement with God. You are absolutely right! Kissing has a reaction and feeling that should only be felt after marriage because if you are not it leads to other things that can be regretful.

@@Quisl we all know that many sexual exchanges start with kissing if you are alone with him. Before you do any physical or sexual interaction you need to know beforehand by having conversations what level of commitment you have with him and you do not need to prove it through any physical interaction. Conversations always should be first so you know if you can proceed to anything that is boyfriend and girlfriend acceptable, and never give marriage benefit.

Kissing is such a passionate thing and as much as possible it should be avoided. The struggle is real though. Having accountability i believe helps a lot. This is something i NEED though

I 100% agree with you on this. We're on the second year of courtship and we decided earlier on to stop kissing. It was quite tough at first but as we desire purity in God's eyes it's been a journey worth taking and we look forward to our wedding day 🤗 thank you for all this information and more. I went on a date with a 'Christian' guy who said he was ok with kissing & cuddling. That was a turn off for me. 😂 I will stay single till I find a Godly man. He left his faith for a long time & slowly coming back to God. I wanted a guy who talks about God & I felt like I was the only one who talks more about God.

Thanks for sharing this. Totally agree with you guys. If honouring God is your priority, you will do everything to ensure God is honoured in all aspects of your relationship. I’m currently in courtship and have been for nearly 2 years now and we have not kissed and are saving that till marriage which is later this year. I am grateful that our church takes very high precautions and sets very strict guidelines on this. Although it can be quite extreme sometimes, we understand they are trying to protect us. We also want to honour God and God really does give you the grace and ability to do so when you decide to honour him. Not only in kissing, but in every other thing which could potentially lead to lust and sin: types of intimate converstions, our dressing, especially us as ladies etc. There is so much to be careful about and you can feel really restricted sometimes but the joy is that at the end you have pleased God in your relationship, developed self-control, set an example for your children and others to follow and have no regrets. I thought of how when there's less physical intimacy there's more time for emotional spiritual and mental intimacy which is what all relationships need to be built ... the physical just completes it. it's like you build a house and then you add the roof. And the awkwardness yeah once you invite physical intimacy in the front seat it doesn't like to be placed in the backseat lol. Thank u. Thank you thank you thank you! I had intended to show this video to a man I was dating, to ask if we should do this. I had intended to save our first kiss for our wedding, should we get married, but while he went along with it at first, he then "had other plans". Long story short, I ended the relationship, and I consider this extra encouragement to keep this standard. "No means no, not convince me". When I am ready to date again, this is one video we will watch together.
