This is one of the most thorough reviews I've come across. I'd make a comment about the efficiency of Asian analytics but it'll be misconstrued. The math ratios were far and above. I loved the dog biting the bag; use him/her in every video. I also loved the technical term of "nudging the leaves with your foot". Beautiful. Being about 1.5" shorter than you, it's a bit easier to vacuum up the leaves, but I still wish it came with an extension, I can feel your pain. Great video.

Great video! Might I suggest you use your lawn mower to mulch/bag the leaves on the lawn. It is faster by far. I use my leaf vac for shrub beds, rocked areas, etc. as you demonstrated however my old Toro tube does not fit in some of the tighter spots, it clogs frequently, and it doesn't pick up big oak leaves very well so I am looking for something better. Not sure this is it but it does look much easier to unclog. Thank you for such a thorough factual review!

On another note, I actually enjoy raking/sweeping in the front of my house so I can talk with neighbors and not annoy them with yet another obnoxious noise. I learned this from the old-timer across the street who passed away years ago. He knew. And a little physical work is never a bad thing.

My experience exactly with the WORX 3-in-1 blower, vacuum, mulcher. I find that when "leafing" the lawn its best to use the lawn mower to first mulch the leaves from the lawn and then vacuum with "WORX" them. I find that mulching the leaves in the fall also fertilizes the lawn over the winter allowing me to reduce lawn fertilization. Although I have numerous large oak trees on my 4000 ft^2 lawn, I have not experienced the number of WROX impeller jams as you have shown on your informative video. I find that when cleaning leaves from my vast pachysandra beds the WORX proves more efficient than raking the leaves off of the pachysandra. My experience with removing leaves from basement window wells matches your experience exactly. One attachment that I use that you have not shown on your video is the WORX WA4054.2 Universal Leaf Collection System. Using the WA4054.2 instead of the leaf-catcher bag, I am able to vacuum leaves directly into a 96 gallon trash bin which greatly reduces the number of bag dumping operations. When the 96-gallon trash bin gets full [after about 20 minutes of continuous vacuuming/mulching], I simply roll the full trash bin to my mulch bin at the back end of my property. Mulching means that I generate free lawn fertilizer and save money on obviating the need for purchasing those leaf/trash bags from Home Depot.

Very helpful video. I just got one of these from Amazon, at $60. I figured this would be a good tool to help with lead pickup. Not a substitute, but something to clean up hard to reach places, and to generally save my back from bending over so much. I have about an acre and it has many trees, and I just mow over them most of the time. The rider does a good job of mulching and the grass seems to grow better because of it. I think this will be good for the front yard and sides of the house.

Phenomenal analysis! The 21 year payback period based on bag savings made me laugh out loud! It was agonizing watching you clear those jams. I think we all wish these devices would function like the municipal leaf collection trucks we see each fall. But they just can’t. Increasing the diameter of the feed tube would weaken the suction. Increasing the power of the motor to compensate would seem like a reasonable solution -but who knows what constraints factor in. The same “cons” were noted with the Ryobi version- but that one doesn’t convert to a blower. Anyway, great job!
@MichaelHooo
@MichaelHooo 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Christopher! I cannot stress how agonizing it actually is to try to clear the jams given the weight of holding the Trivac while removing jams in the propeller opening haha. Deppending on how "contaminated" your leaves are with sticks, wood chips, and other hard, non-leaf objects, jams can happen frequently.

I did this review in my head yesterday. My wife was picking up the leaves manually after I had blown them all into a single pile. I was using the vac feature of my Toro unit. She had to stop and help me by holding the paper bag while we emptied the Toro cloth bag into it. Our cloth bag is longer so more awkward and slower to empty. Not even accounting for the lost time when she had to stop and help me, she was making a bigger dent in the pile faster manually than I was with the vac. We decided the vac was best for under and behind bushes against the house etc than open yard. I think it actually does a better job in the yard than in a pile. It needs a lot of air flow to suck up the leaves. You can’t simply stick it in the pile and have it work. Your video showed this as well by constantly keeping it sweeping back and forth over the leaf pile. I also have an attachment that includes a longer hose and a cloth “top” that you can fasten to a garbage can. This allows you to mulch directly into a larger container. I haven’t figured out how this actually helps though. You’d still have to empty the large container into bags🤔

@MichaelHooo
@MichaelHooo 3 жыл бұрын
The mulch gets really small when I pick up very dry leaves-I remember getting dust-like mulch one time. Most of the clips of mulch I had in the video were from leaves that were partially wet, unfortunately. Mulching also improves if you lighten the vacuum load and take in less leaves over more, i.e. scattered leaves versus from large leaf piles.

Now let me explain what you did wrong. Your experiment for both raking and the device should have begun during the leaf collection process. By blowing the leaves into a mound it would have left behind all of those chunks of wood that kept jamming you up that slowed you down. So the real first part of your experiment is how long does it take to blow your leaves into a Mound versus how long does it take to rake your leaves into a mound. Also it should be noted that raking your leaves will do nothing to separate out all of that debris that kept causing the device to jam. It seems to me when used properly with all of its three different functions you might end up with different results.
@MichaelHooo
@MichaelHooo 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed, I believe changing the test as you explained would lead to different results-I have never tried blowing the leaves into piles (I prefer to rake). Based on my use with the device, blowing will most likely still carry some of the non-leaf objects, such as wood chips, to a leaf pile. Thanks for the comment.
@tc871comments
@tc871comments 2 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelHooo well I bought my own and followed my own advice. The only thing that I did different was instead of blowing it into a mound I would blow the leaves into a straight line across my lawn. I'm sorry to use this analogy but I really can't think of anything better. I then used the vacuum to snort up the thin line of leaves like a drug addict snorting cocaine. I did my entire lawn this fall and if it weren't for my neighbors Halloween decorations of that multicolored Autumn corn cob that squirrels like to hide oh, it would have never found its way into the impeller. All in all it worked great for the price I paid.
