when I was a kid, I loved all the big robot shows on TV, gundam was one of them , even started to collect gunpla, and it lasted for years, still have 1 left on my shelf , my fav series was Gundma Wing, so ST02 is for me , probably won't be as popular as One Piece , but from collector standpoint I can't wait , I will at least try to collect the first ones 😊

If you’re referring to the beta kit, check for local game stores near you to see if they’re putting on a beta release event. My LGS is doing one in February and the signup for it starts January 16, so you still have time if there’s one near you. I think the price is around $70-80.

The premiere case was some briefcase looking thing that included the beta box and a few other items like an event exclusive shirt. Local shops in most places won't get those.

So a quick breakdown of the series being represented in this set of starters and first booster set. Both where they are in the franchise and maybe why they’re here. Mobile Suit Gundam is the original series, and the first series in the Universal Century timeline. Iconic, classic designs. Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn is another series set in the Universal Century timeline, and could be an end point. It’s a bit more recent, and the mech designs have sold kits before. Mobile Report Gundam Wing is the second standalone Gundam series set in its own universe. It was also the first Gundam series that aired in North America through the Toonami block back around 1999-2000. Fairly popular in the States, and a generation’s first exposure to Gundam. Mobile Suit Gundam SEED is a series set in its own timeline known as the Cosmic Era timeline. It’s also massively popular in Japan. It sells the most merch outside of the original series. The Witch From Mercury is the most recent Gundam series set in a standalone universe. It saw significant popularity among audiences internationally as well as in Japan. For the new generation, this is their entry into Gundam.

Wing is the most popular series overseas, while Seed is the most popular series in Japan. The other decks are combo decks of Federation / Zeon sides, which has been a staple since ever.

The Gundam miniature game is called “gundams assemble” and is being released with the card game as far as I know. The miniatures can be used on the table top. I’m sure that the miniatures will also probably do something like an exclusive to the deck and an alternate available for the table top starter. I really hope that the tabletop miniature game is fun just piloting one suit.

I mean, considering the fact that you can use tokens a lot in this game, I'd imagine it's more fun to have Zaku minis instead of plain cards whenever you spawn one in the field... plus, you can paint them different as well for more fun.

Also, as an explanation on why they went for those decks: - The first one with the original series + unicorn seems to be Federation-faction based. Which is a classic of the Universal Century Timeline. - The Zeon one is well... Zeon-faction based, combining also the original series + unicorn. - The Wing one is because Wing is the most popular series overseas, by a massive margin due to being aired over Toonami / Cartoon Network back in the 90s. - The SEED one is because it's the most popular series in Japan by a massive margin, mostly due to the fact that it somewhat soft-rebooted the franchise in the 2000s with the same old concepts but new characters and suit designs. It has recently got a new movie after 20 years of being aired and did stupidly well. TLDR: All these decks make 100% sense from a business and fandom standpoint. Will buy all of them, twice because this is Bandai lol.

The Deck + Gunpla Minis are most likely gonna be 3 minis per set. My logic here is that each mini needs to be cheaper than an HG model kit. Bandai prices their gunpla for the amount of plastic, not the R&D (except for specific models). This means each mini must be 1000jpy, or 8 bucks a piece most likely. If you sum the price of the deck, 11.99 + 3 minis it would be around 30 bucks, which is what the set is priced at. Honestly, I'm super hyped about both the TCG, and the Minis, I've been buying Gunpla for years now, painting them with an airbrush and vallejo paints and it's a lovely hobby. The limit is literally the sky on what you can build and create, broke something? Stick some metal rods and glue and it's fixed.

You really are unfamiliar with Gundam if you are wondering why they have special starter decks with models in them. XD Model kits, or Gunpla, is a major part of the franchise. So it makes sense they'd want to tie that in for the TCG. A really fun thing for them to do.

Oh I'm aware of the model kits. Still kicking myself for not picking up one at the Gundam Factory in Yokohama in 2023. But combining 2 games like this is VERY unusual for any company and any IP. Makes sense for Gundam but it's a very unusual thing for anyone to do!

the easiest way to find events, is to use the Search all events button, then go to Event Detail Search at the top, Then change the Distance from current location to 50 miles. it will display all the events with in that radius by date. makes it easy to find locals near you.

No events listed yet. I think they go live on 1/16, but I'd double check. On the official site you can see what stores got the beta event by state. Keep in mind that it sounds like stores got between 8-24 spots and it will be at least $70+ since you are buying the Beta box with price of admission

Not all cards in bandai starters are starter exclusive but a lot of em are you can already spot these cards in the beta with their numbers being marked with ST i believe

For One Piece they all are as standard but like ST-15-20 are largely reprint decks. General rule they are but they mix it up with cheaper or special decks :)

Beta cards are a bit special, but you shouldn't be able to get any card from a started deck anywhere else aside from the ST deck.

This is going to be epic and not just cause I finally get something rad to release on my birthday. And with the long running line of Gunpla, I wonder if they will be giving some model kits away as a tournament grand prize? So some Gundam info for those who may not know: Gundam's for the most part are made out of a special metal know as Gundamem. New types in the Gundam series are semi psychic individuals who use such ability's to product and doge attacks. A recurring character in most of the series is named Char. Wing is the love it or hat it kind of series, even tho it's mostly a drama about these unlikely operatives working together to take down a governmental power. Mobil Fighter G Gundam is the only series thus far to have the Mobile suits be the most like suits due to the latex bodysuits the pilots ware that one to one mimics there movements. The Heroic Beginnings deck features the first series and the most current series. And yeah I hope this card game dos well and enjoy the rest of your day everyone.

I'd assume that Wing and Seed get their own whole packs because they exist in their own universes with a plethora of unqiue machines and characters to pull from. Though I don't have any experience with a Bandai Card game (yet) so I don't know about their mechanics.

There's 40 years of history to pull suits and models from, not only from TV-Aired-Movies, but also from a LOT of untranslated mangas that we never got... Also, events are like key moments, which there are a TONCRAP of them as well lol.

I played both one piece and digimon and never played their DragonBall game. Mechanically, I enjoy one piece the best right now, but I'm a gundam fan and care about the lore. The card game it looks fun. Im interested in onepiece. I just wish they had a more condensed version of the show. There are too many episodes, not enough time.

Nope but a great time to start! If you enjoy action anime with a focus amazing lore, well written characters (more than just good guy good, bad guy bad) and engaging messaging showing the strife of war. Plus cool robot battles! Iron blooded orphans is probably the best place to start but witch from mercury is also a great Gundam anime to start with. Both have a story that's a bit easier to get into starting from 0

There's lots of diffrent series and storylines overlapping really with an overarching story of the world at large. If you want to watch in order the gundam movie trilogy is the best place to start. However the original series and movies can be hard to get into for some folks as it's kinda structured like a "monster of the week" anime. If you liked one piece though that probably wouldnt be too bad for ya. If you want to start from the beginning the first 3 movies (they are the original series spliced and modified to fit into a movie format) is on Netflix last time I looked. It's kinda goofy sometimes but they still hold up!

Bro it literally says it in the bottom *3 different Gundam Assemble per 1 Starter Set It's 3 per box, which is a good value if we consider that Marvel Crisis or the Star Wars miniature game sell minis for 20$ each.
