I earned this tank through the skill-based event that ran alongside the original t49a event years ago now. Every time I see it come for sale I get upset because at the time of its original release, wargaming said this tank was for only the most skillful of players and would never be sold for money. If I remember correctly, the top 500 players on each server in terms of average damage dealt over the first ten battles of each day would receive this tank (or something like that, it was a while ago). I grinded my ass off in my obj. 140 back when it was still good and finished around 40-50th place on NA if I remember correctly. I’ve had the tank ever since; I keep it as a trophy of my dedication and skill in this game, but nobody would ever know because WG chooses sell it for $15 every couple months, devaluing the accomplishments of those who earned it through pure skill years ago.

It's a pretty good tank and I've been running it since quite a few updates ago. Through these updates it always served as a pretty balanced tank (imo). If you know what your doing it's great, but to me it really (as weird as it sounds) feels like a medium tank but for the heavy side. You definitely can get bounces but it's not reliable (at least not consistent). In teir 9 and 10 (even at teir 8) if you sit, you will get penetrated. Playing this mainly relies on the the fact that you can poke out and dish a nice bit of damage and just pull back in. It has turret armor yes, it has a nice gun yes, but it's not a tank you can sit in. Essentially, don't rely on the armor (except for maybe quick [emphasis on quick] hull down pokes). Instead, use the gun and mobility to your advantage. (I have also noticed that the tank has a pretty high module damage ratio, so getting fires on the tank is pretty easy if you aim for them).

I always push this tank medium side because of the armor and how it can stomp meds if you have decent teammates against heavies I end up bouncing a lot and dying fast

The bad dpm was actually true when the vehicle got introduced into the game... I think its reload was 2 seconds longer at first, making the tank really frustrating to play since you just watch your team die... But currently? Currently its probably my favourite tier 9 tank to play.

I really, really, REALLY want this tank to have 640 alpha like a normal 150mm gun, even 600 alpha is great, but 560... for that reload time... for that low standard pen... IMO this tank behaves more like a well armored medium with high hp. Against mediums that 560 alpha is excellent and its able to reach that top speed very quick.

If they buffed it, it would be absolutely obscenely broken against tier 8's. It already stomps them as is. And it hangs well enough with tier 10's. There's not much to do. lol

I bought this tank today and played a couple dozen games in it. It has its strengths, but it's the first "hull down" vehicle I have ever driven and I learned fast that tier 8 lights can pen the front of the vehicle with standard shells. I'm not a huge fan of the thing since my favorite tank is the Tiger 2 and they are completely different play-styles. It's not a fantastic tank by any stretch of the imagination. You have to be lucky with the map you get because it simply does not function on some maps like canyon or castilla. It also is NOT a frontline heavy considering its poor DPM, low HP and laughable hull armor.

I would definitely recommend this tank over the 50tp prototype because that turret is insanely troll.I have regularly bounced jageroo and 183 shells cuz they think they will pen but slight rotation makes it all red

The 50tp prototype is still 10 kph faster and the tugsten shells and faster reload make things even. Although i'm considering getting the mbt70 because i'm a history nerd.

@@thelogician3845you keep the plate low and hull down positions with 50tp prototype, I was playing the tank against tier 10s today for snowglobes and man it is an incredible tank. Its very strong with adrenaline & tungsten shells both activated, and that fast speed makes you feeling great - its much more capable with its manuverability, than the tech tree slow 50tp

I won it in the missile event all those years ago. At the time it was my first tier 9. Also the KPF70 had the driver in the turret. The chieftain talked about it in one of his videos. The drivers position would remain stationary as the turret moved around. One of the issues is the drivers would get motion sickness from it.

​@@theweeknd2725 I see what you did there. When the German pulled out, the US continued work on the KPF70. It became known as the MBT80, original I know. It was a "less expensive" version that was eventually dropped, and the XM1 continued on. The 70 program was also used by the British as the stepping stone to the Challenger program. Which the latest version was updated by Rheinmetall.

@Droodles Blitz What people mean by saying it has bad DPM is that its reload takes too long leaving you as vulnerable as an autoloader. If your one shot can't take out an enemy who rushes you, or you miss or bounce, they can usually rip you apart before you can reload. As for why people don't wait on tanks like the Drac is that if they do they know it will be gone and they will have to spend on crates.

I feel this is the best looking tank in Blitz but it is a horrible tank in Blitz. It has no armor (People will find your many turret weakspots all the time in my experience), no gun depression, a slow reload that gets you murdered if unsupported, bad HE for its gun's size, horrible camo... For some reason... The only good thing is it is fastish. You need a lot of support to run this tank and with the players of late... Eh.

@Martin Turnaki The pen is alright, it just the problem of the shell always off center everytime you shoot. (E75 have 246mm of AP pen yet it still manages to shoot perfectly fine)

@Martin Turnaki That’s because the shell it use is APCR which is by far the worst type of AP shells you can get. Its shell normalization is worse than AP and it doesn’t achieve insane pen like HEAT do. Plus the fact that because the shell is lighter it means a lot of the shells will be shattered around space armor almost all the time. What type of space armor that every single tank will have is tracks, which means APCR will mostly shattered when driving as Kpfpz70. What WG can do the easily fix is replace APCR to AP and let Heat as it is. While maybe increasing the pen equal to E75.
