The second Disney princess came about 12 years after audiences first witnessed Snow White: her name was Cinderella. As one of the classic Disney princesses, Cinderella has become an icon not only for animation but she has also been at the forefront of the Disney parks often featuring her castle as a symbol for both companies. Cinderella is an inspiring tale and through sequels and a live action remake, we have begun to get a clear picture of her full story.
I post every Tuesday and Thursday, so check back then for more Disney, Pixar, Harry Potter, Star Wars and movie videos! If you have any questions about the Disney universe that you would want answered in a video, please ask away in the comment section!

Cinderella is one of the most strongest Disney princess, she grew up in a place full of negativity but never let this ruin her life. She remains good and kind, she became her own light in a place full of darkness. Cinderella true strength is her inner strength, her ability to not be affected by negative people like her stepmother and sisters, her ability to keep moving foward and not let the sad momments of her life guide ger trought the future. Some people don't understand Cinderella, sadly. By the way, thanks for the video Wotso, you are amazing.

I loved Cinderella as a little girl. Even my first birthday cake had her on it, and I still have a little music box with her and the prince on it that I've had since I was born. As I was introduced to more princesses, I started to like others more than her, with Rapunzel now being my favorite. But, since I loved Cinderella as a little girl, she always holds a special place in my heart. As for the leader of the princesses, I feel like it's Cinderella. The princess line up was made as a marketing strategy, and if Cinderella is the most marketable, then she is definitely the leader.

Painful background but a sweet end - sounds like the journey the name itself took through history. Originally an abusive nickname intended to insult and belittle a young girl, but through the Disney story that name has been transformed into a beloved global phenomenon that is symbolic of a happy ending no matter what was endured. Also - I would also pick Cinderella to lead the Disney Princesses.

Ever After: A Cinderella Story was my favorite movie. Oh man, I loved that scene when Danielle punched Marguerite right in the face and threaten to rip her hair out as she chased her down was the best scene EVER! Back to the Disney Princesses, my favourite Disney Princess is Ariel. We got to see her from a young mermaid curious about the world above to becoming a mother hiding a big secret from her daughter. Funny, Ariel became like her father except banning her daughter from the sea which backfired. And then, Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning, explaining why King Triton despised humans so much. And when Wotso did the video about the history of Atlantica. That was the cherry on the icing. Out of the Disney Princesses, Ariel is more interesting and complexed.

I've always adored the 1950's version of Cinderella from Disney, just the subtle atmosphere cues leads the audience to truly believe that Cinderella is isolated with her toxic family and how Lady Tremaine's attitude is shrouded in mystery. We never know why Tremaine is the way she is (even though it's not right!) and by having Cinderella confined to the chateau property, it truly shows just what kind of power her step family has over Cinderella. Maybe a theory for Tremaine is that she's a black widow, that her first husband was killed so she could inherit the fortune and she simply repeats the process with Cinderella's father; after all we never get a consistent answer to his demise.
@joshwillis2879
@joshwillis2879 6 жыл бұрын
The 2015 live action remake had Lady Tremaine explain why she hates Cinderella, because she's kind and good and everything her own daughters aren't. She was also angry that Cinderella's father still truly loved his first wife.
@SqueeaakyB00ts
@SqueeaakyB00ts 6 жыл бұрын
That is true, and both movies can certainly stand on their own. I guess it boils down to what the viewer wants; 1950's Cinderella having more mystery, or the 2015 version having reason and closure.

*Elsa and Kida have two completely different stories...stop comparing them...and stop comparing the sisterhood of Lilo and Nani with the sisterhood of Elsa and Anna...every Disney character has a different story and every sisterhood are different. Elsa runs away from Arendelle because people want her dead because of her ice powers (Elsa is called "witch" or "monster" because of her powers). Elsa runs away from her sister for her good (Olaf: "True love is putting someone else before yourself"). Elsa runs away from her royal duties because she does not want to be the queen of Arendelle and because she doesn't believe herself fit for that role. Elsa becomes queen only because she is the first born and not because she wants it as happens at the end of the film.*

Nobody is comparing Lilo and Nani to Elsa and Anna :-). As you said Elsa run away for the safe of Anna not for her people! Anna is more responsible than Elsa because she actually putted in someone in charge to look out Arendelle's people! Elsa is not and independent and strong woman, she never tries to solve her problems but she just waits, she is not different from Aurora: events move Elsa's life not her actions! On the other hand Anna is heroine, she tries to achieve her happiness, she tries to save her sister and their Kingdom, she makes mistakes but she tries and she actually done her heroine'path. Elsa needs to grow up, to build her own strength in order to be a good queen because she depends on strength's Anna. I hope to see her development very soon because how she is now doesn't make a good queen, she does not fit that role. I actually feel that most Frozen fans use it as Judgment parameter and they forget every past movies. I do not share the general opinion that Elsa is strong woman because she has magic power, she is single and queen. My fave character is Anna and it makes me sad see how much people blaming her when she is one who saved the day. N.B: There will be some mistakes , English is not my native language and I haven't seen the new short movie of Frozen because it's not arrived in my country, so my opinion is based only on the movie.

The leader of Disney Princesses might be either Cinderella and/or Belle, however so far there are three groups of Disney Princesses: the classical trio of Snow White, Cinderella and Aurora, the Renaissance group of Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas and Mulan (though she is not a true princess herself but honorary because of her goals) and the 2000´s new age of princesses with Tiana, Rapunzel, Merida, Anna, Elsa and Moana (though the latter three are not so far very accepted). The leading Disney Princess might not just one although either Cinderella and Belle might be somehow equal about being each of them the leading ones of their groups, then it could be Rapunzel the leading one of the modern times, being then the three of them the leading group of all Disney Princesses with Snow White and Ariel being the suplents of Cinderella and Belle respectively.
@imjstar
@imjstar 6 жыл бұрын
Lha Dzyan Three groups is a good idea. But I think Cinderella would lead the first group- she's without a doubt the most popular princess and her story is timeless. And she has more personality than the other two. The second group should be led by Ariel. She has the adventurous personality that defines the group and she was the first of the renaissance princesses. And lastly Anna and Elsa should be the modern times- they're the most memorable and popular of the modern princesses. And one is a queen.
@lhadzyan402
@lhadzyan402 6 жыл бұрын
That´s a very nice alternative version, however still Belle, Snow White and Rapunzel are very important on their own way as rivals for the other ones, perhaps there might not be an only certain lead of the Disney Princesses or even in the three groups that could be very well considered between the different generations of them. Some even more mighty female leaders aren´t considered in the Disney Princesses group as Kida of Atlantis, Esmeralda, Meg, Nala, Bianca, Vanellope and Judy Hopps (The only oficial Disney Princess that belongs to that special group of female leaders is Mulan as honorary princess herself although she is more valuable than a princes being a prime-level heroine, pretty much is as the "Wonder Woman" of Disney, although recently might have some close match with Princess Leia Organa Skywalker and Rey (and Jyn Erso) as the SW universe has become Disney propiety.)

Hey Isaac have you ever wondered how Chad Charming from Descendants is Cinderella's son? He certaintly doesn't act at all like his mother as kindhearted toward the Descendants in either movies. Can you explain why that is? I would love to get a backstory on Chad.
@bessduarte7061

4400fan25 neither was Audrey. My theory was that either they’re spoilt or they were scared of the VKs because of what their parents has done in the past. Chad’s actually nice to everyone, except for the VKs :)
@EmeraldCanary13
@EmeraldCanary13 6 жыл бұрын
I guess you have a point there. It just seemed to me that even though Chad was spoiled or whatever you want to call it, that Cinderella would always teach her son how to be nice to everyone (VKs included) I mean Cinderella forgave her stepsister Anastasia, so why couldn't Chad just become like his mother? That's just me though. Great insight :) in Audrey's case it would make more of a sense for her to be scared of the VK's given what happened to her mother Aurora with Maleficent, guess it makes sense why Audrey and Chad end up together (Even though it's not shown in Descendants 2 you can tell it's heavily implied that they will become an item in the third movie)
@Welpitsamanda
@Welpitsamanda 6 жыл бұрын
I have an idea as well. If you have read The Selection series by Kiera Cass, you might have been annoyed with how ignorant America (the main character)'s daughter, Eadlyn, is in the sequels. It becomes clear there that Eadlyn's ignorance and arrogance stems from her lack of knowledge and understanding of her mother's past. I think that Chad and Audrey could definitely fit this theory, because it would be understandable if someone in Cinderella's position would not want to tell her son about what Lady Tremaine and the stepsisters were like. She might simply tell him that they were bad. Then, as he grew older, he could have heard more of the story from other people, but he never really learns how they treated Cinderella, because only Cinderella knows that. Similarly, Audrey never would have heard what happened to her mother outside of what her family would tell her. Given how Queen Leah reacts to Mal on Family Day, we can assume that any information on Maleficent would make her out to be Audrey's worst nightmare, the manifestation of everything bad in the world. How Chad and Audrey act toward the VKs is not acceptable, but at the same time, it could be an effect of how they learned their parents' histories.

I'm afraid I haven't gotten around to watching Enchanted Tales yet, but that's an interesting theory. I do doubt though that their real parents' identities would affect them, if they were not raised by them. However, that doubt stems off of the idea that evil is not born, but made. There are a lot of stories out there that include Mal learning that she's actually Aurora's daughter, and that is certainly in the realm of possibilities, because how better to get revenge on Aurora than by taking her daughter? Very, very cruel, and right up Maleficent's ally. Your Chad theory is very possible as well, but I choose to believe that Kit isn't so... stuck up? Pretentious? I'm not sure if those are the words I'm looking for, but I think you know what I mean. I've also seen other theories that Cinderella would be afraid of punishing Chad, really doting on him and even stepping in to stop Kit from giving Chad punishment. That could be another explanation for Chad's behavior, as well. I don't particularly think that Chad would admire any of the villains, even Lady Tremaine and Drizella, because of how much he scorns Mal, Jay, Evie, and Carlos specifically for being the children of villains. However, that's not to say he doesn't think Cinderella is crazy. Maybe he does. What do you think?

I just hate how perfect the first 3 are. Sure Cinderella goes through some hard times, yet comes out as an almost perfect person. As a victim of bullying myself (albeit a lot less and traumatic), I've come out of it with anger problems and more salt than the ocean. I'm no Disney villain, but I got a bit of a problem or two wile Cinderella doesn't seem to have much character growth at all after all that.

You missed alot of re-inventions of this princess. Disney isn't the only one to recreate her story or use the tale for inspiration. Many animes and mangas have used her and even changed her gender. There's been a few British movies inspired by the original story. As well as the more famous Ella Enchanted and another movie where Drew Barrymore brought Cinderella to life in new ways.

Disney once said “Cinderella was more practical. She believed in dreams alright, but she also believed in doing something about them. When the Prince Charming didn’t happen to come along. She went right over to the palace and got him!”

It think there wasn't a disney princess leader but after frozen, I think it's Elsa. Not only is she the only Queen, she's also the oldest, wisest in my opinion and does whatever necessary to keep the people around her safe and keep herself happy. For example when she ran away, she wanted to keep Anna and her people safe but also, as we see through let it go, she is setting herself free by not having to worry about anyone's safety as she can't control her powers. But that's just my opinion, everyone's entitled to their own.

I've got a question, instead of going from house to house asking people to try the glass slipper on why didn't the prince just call everybody back to the castle and have them line up to try the slipper on not only would that have been less work for him but it would have saved him a lot of trouble too. (and yes you could say that it probably would have made him seem lazy but I think it have been a whole lot easier) and I thought Chad Charming was snow whites son not cinderella's

I don't think that might've worked out as well as it sounds, with the whole " Getting locked away in the (basement? Attic?) by Lady Tremain" *plus the confrontation of not knowing that Cinderella went to the ball, and maybe later finding out when she tries to leave."*

One could go with the oldest princess. By age, Pocahontas is the oldest (18), or oldest by release is Snow White (81). Snow White also has a strong claim, considering at the end of the movie she would become Queen, since she is the next heir, and is the only one to do so during their movie (and television) run. Personally, I couldn't pick a princess to lead. Cinderella or Belle would be good spokeswomen for the group, however each has a good reason to lead, and also many of them share similar traits. I did enjoy a small project working out which ones would be good leaders based on their upbringing and education. The answer is not many of them.

Would you be willing to do a video on Kingdom Hearts? It is still Disney stuff after all, and there's plenty to talk about. Like the Foretellers and the Master of Masters, or where keyblades actually come from in the first place, or a topic me and my best friend talked about last night; weather or not the Nobodies of Organization 13 age.

The thing I noticed is that Cinderella's castle in the parks, and when it appears at the beginning of Disney feature films as a logo/symbol, doesn't actually look like the one in the animated 1950's film, or has only some similar features. I know for the parks, there were reasons as to why there was a lack of at least two of the towers, which couldn't be seen from certain angles and various other issues, but if you compare the two castles, the logo version and the film version, there are noticeable differences, and I have no idea if that's intentional or they've created the opening logo with certain aspects of the Cinderella castle but not all of it? Maybe even using some features from other Disney Princess castles? I know throughout the past couple of years, the logo has changed from the basic blue castle, then becoming more detailed to what it is today (shown at the start of your video), but I've always wondered why it hasn't looked like the narrow shape it was in the 50's film artwork. Would someone be able to correct me on this or give me some info as to why this is? Or Issac maybe you could make a video about why this is? I also wondered why they chose Cinderella's castle to be the symbol of the studios instead of Snow Whites, considering she was the first princess, so maybe you could talk about that as well? Thanks!

I'm not sure who should be the leader but like others here, I do like the idea of Snow White because she was the first ever princess and because I remember her being a strict little mother hen with the dwarves in the movie at times. It's kind of cute to imagine someone as sweet as her having her hands on her hips and not budging with the other princesses when they act up, and I can imagine Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty being her main girl squad members/ladies in waiting because they're vintage princesses too :) I also love the idea of all the other Disney girls following Snow White, even tough Meg and Merida for example, because Snow White is just so kind and motherly with them all but also knows when to tell them off 🤣 Love the appreciation video for Cinderella ♡

Oh Cinderella is certainly the leader of the Princessesand Disney seems to agree as she appears in group photos at the center of the pictures most often and still remains the most popular princess. Then again I might have some bias as she's my favorite.

It's probably just me but I think Belle is one of the best Disney Princesses even though many accuse her of having Stockholm Syndrome which is completely untrue. I've seen plenty of videos on the topic prove (including yours) that she is a lot stronger then people give her credit for and she didn't start to change until the Beast, aka Adam, did. I adore Rapunzel also, especially in her tv show even though she'd been sheltered her whole life too and manipulated. While not strictly a princess, out of all the female leads I've seen, Mulan is actually the strongest one because she saved an entire country! But I dunno, I don't really see any one princess as a leader because they all bring something different to the table and portray different sides of being a kind yet independent person. I can see why Cinderella is the most iconic though, Snow White is a sweetheart for sure but really she didn't have all that much of a personality. Then again, she was only 14 and Cinderella was 19.
